    • Would a sailing yacht that could go anywhere do??

It may not be easy to see what this is, but the size should be clear when compared to the cars parked near by:

      Cravelle built from hardwood:

This is where the keel will go:

Does she have a bit of Colin Archer in her??

She will be a two masted Ketch when completed and the Owner intend to sail around the world I was told.

Starting on the page of the attached link, there are a handful of page with very good contenders to the official CV Yacht:

Do you call that an outrigger, as in canoe? Is there one on the other side?
Asean Lady. Hmm-mm. Spelling error or an attempt to indicate a sea-going yacht? No, Ombugge, I don't really like the look of it. No elegance, and yachts should be elegant before I step aboard.

There is only one outrigger, which helps to stabilize the narrow main hull. Different from the traditional Catamaran and Trimaran designs used for fast ferries.

Here is a link to an article with specs and background story about this Superyacht: http://www.liveyachting.com/a-class-...cht-asean-lady
The Owner, Brian Chang, is a bit of an eccentric and a visionary Singaporean who doesn't accept "not possible" as an answer to any question. After building up a successful rigbuilding yard here, he took his business to China at a time when nobody would even consider building complex offshore vessels, rigs and FPSOs there. He took over a small yard in Yantai and developed it into a premium yard for just such vessels, among other thing, the Yantai Raffels Shipyard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yantai_Raffles_Shipyard

ASEAN = Association of South East Asian Nations, a 10-nation grouping with ambitions to develop into something like the EU.

As to the beauty and/or elegance of this Superyacht, I think most CVF members will agree with you. As the Grand Lady of CVF refuse to put foot on board I hereby withdraw the nomination as CVY.

What an interesting yacht. I had not seen her before. My first thought was ugh but in the end I am surprised that I thing she is "practical" which is probably not what her designer was aiming for.

I'm searching for more photos as I type this.

This is indeed an interesting layout, worth discussing it. I understand the innovative idea and the economical and practical advantages, but this most elegant idea is spoiled by putting a three-floor office complex on it. If the designers would have been inspired by the slim main hull and built a fitting superstructure on it, imagine how wonderful that would have been!! On the outrigger there could have been the swimming platform, the dingi and such things in a small elegant hull. Then we would have a very elegant classic yacht with a traditional outrigger. Wow! This would have for sure less space, but who needs 1.400 square meters of cube-farm space on a ship like we see it here???

Now you're talking, Ralf. The Grand Lady of CVF concurs with every word! It was the "office complex" that made me react with "ughhhhh-hh" straight away. I'm afraid the very word "yacht" still conjures up for me a small intimate boat of excellent design but intended for just a small party, not something that looks like a wannabee ocean cruise liner.

Ah, but it's 1'400 square meters of cube farm that floats.

Unfortunately I think the boat was designed from the inside out. The owner wanted this, and this, and this... and the only way you can do it with a boat that size with their budget is an apartment building that floats.
