That make sense. But isn`t it a bit early for NVGS to be in the fjords?
          Last years "class" maybe?

NVG herring report for week 4 from Norges Sildesalgslag

Over 23 300 tonnes of NVG herring were reported this week and it is the best week of the year. This despite the fact that fishing takes place in the sea west of Røst and that there have been several days of difficult weather conditions. In addition, herring has been deep and has been difficult to reach. Silda is clearly walking and has come closer to the Norwegian coast. Thursday there were some boats in search of Trænadjupet, but there was little to see in this area. Now last week, fishing has taken place in two areas, one approx. 50 n.m. west of Skomvær and a ca. 25 n.m. northwest of this field again.

Of the 58 vessels that have participated there are larger coastal vessels that dominate, but also some trawlers and ring nuts. The distribution is 38 coastal boats, 9 ringnotes, 9 trawlers and 2 foreign (Danish trawlers). Quantumly, the distribution is 6 115 tonnes from ring nose, 5 640 tonnes from the trawl group, 2 100 tonnes from foreign vessels and 9 460 tonnes from the coastal group.

For coastal fishing, 5 catches totaling 280 tonnes of fish are on the Møre / Trøndelag coast. This herring is, as before, significantly less in size, 175 to 225 grams. The seaweed in the north of the ocean shows that the average weight drops, the average is from 312 to 365 grams and with a total weighted average of 344 grams against 350 grams last week.

Next week (week 5), good activity is still expected of the coastal fleet and that herring continues its migration into and along the coast.

So it looks like herring is in the fjords but in a vast amount so far.

              Thanks Bengt.

They are getting longer, bigger and even more sophisticated:

This new longliner will have battery pack to improve fuel consumption and emission control and be able to handle 60 tonnes of fish per day.
The Autoline System has capacity for 72000 hooks. if run in one length and 1.5 m. between hooks, that will make a longline that is 108 km. long.
