Is anyone else following this year-long tracking of the BBC container to see where it goes and what it contains?

GPS map of the route & current position
"The Box is heading to Japan via the Cape of Good Hope and Singapore with a cargo of monosodium glutamate."

    Story so far

Oh, waow... how interesting. Who could have imagined a shipping container would have traveled that extensive. Zooming out on the map and seeing it's track is ... almost incredible. Over land and across seas...

And think about it for a moment, that is just ONE container! There are millions of others making the same trek around the globe while we eat, sleep and surf CV!

Is that smog in Shanghai? It looks very hazy in the second picture. It remindes me of Los Angeles 15-20 years ago.

Yes and no--there was some smog, but no where near as bad as Xi'an..that really irritated my lungs and throat. It was mostly haze (that was around 7am) and it hadn't burned off yet....

                  It's Home!

Have just been watching the BBC news on TV. The BBC box arrived back at the television centre in London earlier today. It's last cargo was a load of cat food.
The BBC website as not been updated at the moment, the last news item concerns the containers return to Southampton at the weekend, but it is now safely back in London.

. . . and at my TV -watching location this lunchtime I saw the BBC2 business/finance magazine programme “Working Lunch” which showed the Box outside the BBC Television Centre.
Ah, just managed to find it on the computer website at:

Quite amazing and extremely fascinating to read and see the map of the container's actual journey!
