Titanic cruise to mark anniversary of ship's fateful voyage

The 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is to be marked with a cruise that will follow the ship’s original route.

Fred Olsen does the cruise, read the whole story here:

Not sure this will work, but I give it a try anyhow:

Look at the wave crushing in over the bow at around 2 minutes into the clip. Some heavy weather damage can clearly be seen before that wave hits.

Black Watch crossing the Bay of Biscay Nov. 2004 by Olav Sövdsnes (videos)

Two days of heavy weather in the Bay of Biscay. The waves peaked at 30 meters, the winds 70 knots and it hammered for two days. The bow came up as a result of this.

Black Prince in Copenhagen, 15 July 2009,
(more photos in the thread Cruiseships in Danish waters).

Her remaining Scottish destinations (Scrabster and Lerwick) are too far away for me, so here in Copenhagen I said goodbye to her before her final departure for a new life in Venezuela.

Looking at her remaining schedule, I see she is due to return to Copenhagen on September 27, and other ports of call which may interest some of our members are:
          01 September Bergen
          02 September Alesund
          25 September Oslo
29 September transit Kiel Canal, Brunsbuttel
          30 September Rotterdam

Great images of the 'good old lady'... with lots of fine details to study.

Thanks for kicking this thread back to life and sharing your fantastically awesome images with me and all others! Thank you!

                Oh dear

Looking at this post above this early morning, I thought I was just back in time. You really invated my own childhood and tee-ages here, J-O.

Just add the strange looking sisters "Buenavista" and "Bonanza". And "our cute tiny yacht" "Christian IV", and we have all my daily maritim inspiration in my youth

This is what I grew up with when I lived not far away from the Kristiansand harbour area, in my "Pre-Hurtigrute-age".

Thanks for reminding me that I have been young

                    Hello friends,

I just got a message that the Boudicca will make a Norwegian Northern Lights Cruise in February 2012... yes, you read right, in February!

They will even visit Trondheim on February 27th!

                    Read all about it:

                    http://www.fredolsencruises.com/plan...-details/D1203

What if we made this the CV cruise of the millennium! That would be awesome!

Marco Polo is starting 2011 in Molde, February 21 and end up in Bergen
March 5, so a cruise in February is something we might get more of in the future

That is awesome news... some 20 years ago, I would have been categorized as mad if I ever suggest something like a winter cruise.

I guess the winter cruise of Saga a few years back really opened the eyes of the cruise lines to offer something new and different.

I shall mark my calendar! Awesome!

That will be a different scenery to photograph ships which I normally think of as summer experiences.
