The Cruise industry has it's eyes on Asia. That may not be news, but here is an article from CNA about the growth of the industry in Singapore: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...e/2692614.html

Thanks for sharing that - I hadn't seen that one as I have not been online too much the past two-three weeks due to work.

Slogan for the Cruise??; Live the "luxury life" of an Offshore worker, but without the pay.

PS> If you wonder what this newest addition to the Cruise Ship fleet looks like, Here she is as seen off Batam, Indonesia in 2013:

Did QM2 get a new Master recently? No, apparently this professional Maritime publication call refurbishment "remastering".
It may be of interest to some, so here is the article: http://maritime-executive.com/featur...d-queen-mary-2

Does anyone know if Titanic 2 is going to happen by 2018, as predicted? Or later? I think Clive P has a lot on his plate at present and is staying quiet....

Last I've heard was that the project had been completely abandoned. But, then again it re-appears in times when there's a lack of new news.

Thanks, Jan-Olav. That is what I thought and the fact that CP is almost a nonentity in the press makes me think his lavish dream is off the books.

Did you all see the news that Costa is intending to build the LARGEST cruiseship in the world.... based on guest capacity.... 6.600 guests!!!!

Slightly more than RCI's Oasis class of ships.

Carnival Cruise has order another 3 ships, this time to be powered 100% by LNG: https://gcaptain.com/carnival-corp-o...Captain.com%29

How many cruise ships are there market for without scrapping some of the early "shoeboxes" to get them off the market?
The nice looking old ones should be preserved however.

You call them shoe boxes. I call them apartment buildings. Whatever the word there are far too many cruise ships with the lines of a car carrier.

Shoeboxes and multistorey units - plus thousands of bodies....cattle train? Yes, I know, that is maybe going too far - but when the ship carrying 5-6000 hits an immovable structure and takes in water....what about the survival rate, particularly if there are disabled pax onboard?
