How strange... she is China, but in the information that was provided, she made it to the Med... so I checked her out on wikipedia, and that gave me some pretty interesting reading:

Currently the ship is being examined and repaired by China's People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) after purchasing it at auction[3]. It was widely reported that the ship would become a casino in the Chinese SAR of Macau. This has been proven incorrect as the ship is in a drydock in Dalian and painted PLAN grey. Many analysts believe that the ship will be used for training as China builds an indigenous aircraft carrier with greater capability.

Never heard of this incident: now on sale in a book:

              In English:

This episode will be a huge salvage operation from the Americans, led by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. What now accessible archives reveal is that in reality the ship sank while trying to launch one of its devastating nuclear missiles on the U.S. naval base of Pearl Harbor. This would be an episode of the Tom Clancy - but true - if the Americans had when they recovered the remains of K-129 to the surface, found that the building of the USSR was disguised submarine in Chinese! The authors demonstrate that the operation was premeditated, and not the act of a rogue commander, and that the aim was to ignite a war between the USA and China. This book is a bestseller in the United States , a film and general public is being prepared.

Thanks.... I think this Navy vessels thingy was an April Fool's joke to be honest... no military vessels of any kind here...

I thought so myself, but why go out on a public world wide forum with a very local joke spesific for Rørvik....?
Oh well...., no pictures yet on the norwegian forum, so you might be right....

But then again; a huge navy fleet is on their way home after Cold Response 2009, so that is at least true...

I thought it was strange when you first told me, because when I drove from school that day, I think I would have seen a large fleet of navy ships in this tiny place: which I didn't.

This year, I actually was so 'into' studies that I completely forgot about April 1st.... how embarrassing is that...

On the forum at Norsk Skipsfarts Forum they also said there was 17 norwegian vessels...., 17...
The Royal Norwegian Navy don't have that many operational vessels, so there should have sounded a bell here...

As far as I know there are 21 operational vessels + 5 supply ships in the RNN today.
The coast guard has 11 ocean-going vessels and 7 ships for coastal use.

In addition a crowd of smaler vessels. +++

Whoops! I almost forgot, KNM NORGE, the Royal yacht.

Conclusion : The Royal Norwegian Navy has the number of ships, but I don't think they will let them celebrate 1. of April together in Rørvik.

Probably not.... but that sentence just made me crack up in laughter....

-- and here I am, thinking Rørvik was the center of naval intelligence...
