  • Ships & boats in Scottish waters: Year of 2011

With the demise of the DFDS (Norfolkline) passenger route between Rosyth & Zeebrugge, this morning saw the first sailing of the DFDS TorLine freighters Tor Finlandia and Tor Cimbria. No photos because I'm not likely to be on the east coast for some weeks. (Seagull are you going to be in the area of the river soon?)

The departure times from Rosyth seem to be inconvenient for me and during hours of darkness right now, but I’ll have a look at the AIS or otherwise try to ascertain when they are getting here from Zebrugge and if more favourable will make an expedition to Queensferry in a week or so.

Which Scottish cruise boat / ex NSSR vessel?

seen at Corran Narrows and then 2½ hours later at Oban.

        20 April 2011, a very misty morning.

          Ocean Countess, Oban Bay

The last few days have been very warm but the mist has not really cleared before late afternoon, if at all.

Ahhh.... I recall Oban... a very rainy day when we came there with the Crystal Symphony. It was raining in every single direction!

Tug Holland, this historic Dutch tug seems to be an annual visitor sailing cruises around the west coast

                          Nessie Hunter

I thought Nessie lived in Loch Ness- that's where I've always seen her. For some reason they're looking for her in Oban Bay

                            Lauren L
Several enthusiasts have been following this mini cruise ship around the west coast over the past few days. Last night she moored in Craignure and this morning the AIS showed her in Ballachulish. Last time I saw her was in Geiranger

                            not good photos, sorry.
