Today we had a surprise visitor in Aalesund. (At least she was not on my list for today)
The Prinsendam joined her compatriot, the Zuiderdam at the Cruise Centre and departed first, bound for Longyearbyen:

With Brannsproyta giving her full honours:

    And thare she goes:

    The Zuiderdam followed shortly after:

    Also with Brannsproyta in attendance:

And heading out Hessafjorden for the open ocean, bound for Akureyri, Iceland:

PS> Please note; there are no more snow on Sula mountain!!!

Symphony looked amazing on the Honningsvåg webcam earlier (www.honningsvag.kystnor.no).

I'd have dearly loved to be on the mountain looking back down at the quay at that point (although I think I'd have got wet!).

            Cheers,

            Mark.

I looked at the North Cape webcam a few minutes ago, nordkapp.kystnor.no - visibility perhaps 20m!!

There's nothing like a proper Finnmark summer to give the tourists what they like.
                Cheers,

                Mark.

I think they come for the sun Ombugge - especially on the North Cape day. I certainly think the best bit of being in Finnmark in the summer months is the light - but I know what you mean.

OK, the midnight sun at this time of the year and the northern lights in the winter is one of the attractions, as is the dramatic landscape further south.
BTW; when does the sun dip below horizon as seen from North Cape? (I don't have the Nautical Almanac handy)

"Artania" arrives at Breivika harbor this morning during a heavy rainy weather.
For the tourists there are rainy clothes and umbrella that counts today if they are going for a walk in the city

                  • Marina looks beautiful for a modern ship I must admit, though my absolutely favourite ship is off course the Crystal Symphony.... Artania is not a bad looking one either, forever a favourite.

Pity the guests of C. Symphony didn't get nicer weather once they arrived at North Cape - but with northern Norway, not every day can have nice weather.

                      • Saw her at Trondheim (MEIN SCHIFF 4) but as I had flown around her on a previous call this year, I didn't make any new images.

I must say though, she is quite a massive looking vessel when seen alongside.

Despite being so modern, her design is not that bad though.

Thank you very much - then I know for the future how to use flickr as well!

                          • I do have to apologise a bit for not having been online the past week, but I have indeed been lurking in the background with the forum upgrade together with MARK.

So pleased it worked out so greatly and let's hope it will stay as fast and responsive as this in the future.

I have also been working all through the night with minimal sleep during day time - but amazingly enough, I did find some time to hunt for cruise ships also.

This was the SILVER WIND when she stopped by the dock at ILA:

Finally, my favourite image as I tried keeping up with the quickly accelerating ship:
