A colleague of mine wanted some images of his ferry, so I had to go do this for him:

Pakarang. your colleague is lucky to know someone with the right equipment and the talent to use it to such great effect.

Certainly a good choice to include the little "fyr" in each of the shots.

In a year or so, I probably need to rename this thread or perhaps even make a new thread.

On December 31st 2018, Fjord1 will hand over the Flakk-Rørvik service back to Fosen Namsos Sjø.

From midnight that new years evening, the (now under construction) new battery-powered ferries will take over the service.

The new names will become LAGATUN and MUNKEN.

Lagatun is an old, known name amongst those who remembers the ferry service from Ila / Skansen to Vannvikan (prior to 1978).

Munken (literally "the munk") takes it's name from Munkegata (in Trondheim) and from the mountain top Munken next to Vannvikan, as well as the island of Munkholmen.

I totally agree with 'Clipper' in every word. You know, the original LAGATUN from 1964 was built in my neighborhood, at Storvik ship yard. Storvik was just some five hundred meters from Sterkoder yard, so as you might understand, I've followed many boats, ferries and ships from when they were just small steel plates
Anyway, what will Mr. J-O do after December 31st 2018 then? Where do Fjord1 plan to use Korsfjord, Glutra and Tresfjord?
(We would very much like to have a couple of them here, down in the fjords of Nordmøre, as we struggle with "old iron"

Thank you very much, Sterkoder, for dropping by this thread again.

Yes, all the there current ferries here on the Trondheimsfjord are currently being reassigned to other places - the information is probably not yet fully decided, and also not "public" information as I know.

Where will I go? So far, I have no ideas, but hopefully, the next company will hire me for the next tender-period. According to new laws, our jobs are in fact protected and should be offered first to those that are already on the service.

It'll be an exciting year now.

The ferry docks are already being rebuilt again to be able to hold the new battery technology and charging stations.

Change is always an exiting thing. I hope that things will only get better.
Where are the new vessels built, or are they already existing?

The new vessels for Fosen Namsos are being built at Kleven Maritime.

Here is a rendering of the slightly larger ferry than what we have today: http://www.fosennamsos.no/aktuelt/mf...e8009-892.html

The main power will be batteries.

Looks pretty traditional from the outside, exiting to hear how the new tech will work.
So, when are you bringing it home? :-)

Oh,I am pretty sure you will be on the new ferry when the new period starts between Flakk and Rørvik.
