    The World (of ResidenSea)

THE WORLD ship has been visiting our neighbouring Island Guernsey. One of our top chefs in Jersey was given the honour of cooking for all the residents who live on board. The food was all local produce. If any members can see photos of the ship in our Local Jersey Evening Post, can they put it on the site , may have been a few days ago. Thank you. kiki42

The World was built at Rissa, Norway, not far from Trondheim: a fantastic looking ship. I have met her in many ports from around the world, and she used to be commanded by the honorable Captain Harsheim.

Sadly, I do not read local Jersey newspapers, so I can't help you.

Fosna Folket also wrote about the ship when they saw www.trondheimsfjorden.net do it first:

Another old article from a time before the World was built... from a weekly men's magazine called Vi Menn:

THE WORLD came to Kristiansund - 27.05.2013

It's an ordinary ship, looking at it from outside, but people in Kristiansund has talked about the arrival of THE WORLD for a long time now.
The day finally came, 25 degrees celcius, calm and warm brize and a magic, nice, relaxed mood in the city.

Our captain was in town on a voyage solely to visit former colleagues and good friends on board the ship, so pay no notice to me and him not meeting up today. We had good contact via sms.

But one thing is for sure, as some like stalking in here...., today I've performed what must be the Mother of all stalkings.
Just follow me on my three hours photo session to report the ships arrival, and you'll see what I mean.

At 17:15, 45 minutes early, she came turning around Innlandet to sail into the harbour via Markussundet inlet

Hurtigruten KONG HARALD left via Sørsundet outlet at the same time

629 meters high Freikollen in the background

I'm a patriot of the city and say we have a nice harbour

Re: THE WORLD came to Kristiansund - 27.05.2013

Kristiansund is built on islands, called 'land' (country).
They are called Kirkelandet, Innlandet, Gomalandet and Nordlandet...., and today, in the middle of these four lands were THE WORLD....
(I'm just playing with words..., it might not work that well in writing)

People were out in their small boats to welcome this beautiful ship

The sundbåt in traffic today was ANGVIK

And guess what I spotted over by the Hollywood-ish city sign....
That rear end of the black car there looked familiar.

Who owned that monster truck...? Just follow me to the next post.

It was time for some big time stalking. He knew I was in the area, but I'm not sure our dear captain knew I was exactly there...., high above his happy meeting with good old friends

                      Look at that joy

A good firm handshake after years apart

                      Finally got the guest ID-card

And the step on board was a reality

And what about that monster truck rear end I spotted...? Well, here is the Toyota parked nicely at the quay

Our captain has good taste in cars

Then back to the ship again

Sight from the roof of the AMFI shopping mall parking house

Thon Hotel at Innlandet in the background

The end of the world...., hahaha...

As I left the roof/top floor, I took a picture to show how high this ship is

From another roof it looked like this

Then it was time to get down on the pavement and mingle with other people

Roof of the parking house can be seen to the left

The 'land' in the background is Innlandet, the smallest of our islands
