      Re: World's PILOT BOATS

I had a bird's eye view of the pilot boat in Piraeus, Greece.

First they dropped the pilot off at the dock.

And then coming back later to pick him up.

        Re: World's PILOT BOATS

Here comes our first pilot for the Dardanelles.

The pilot boat seemed to get into position before we were ready so they allowed us to pass by.

Shortly after they hit the throttle and quickly came up in position.

A very quick and efficient transfer.

The transfer took about 30 seconds. The pilot boat came into position and held rock solid, rope ladder dropped and the pilot boarded. Quick and professional.

Not exactly pilot boat photos but close enough. I think we also took on a "health control" officer when we took on the pilot earlier. Apparently we were OK and the boat came to pick him up.

              The all important transfer.

I love the one-foot-on, one-foot-off transfer photo, Dane...moment caught exactly, and the dark and white sea, the side of the ship, and the colours of the pilot boat all complete a perfect image.

Here is another of our pilot boats when passing through the Dardanelles. Unfortunately this time the transfer was made on the other side of the ship and I was too lazy to leave my comfy spot on the balcony. I hope you like the color orange.

"Los 102" and RS "Gideon" had a little race at Tromsø strait this morning.

My very first thought was that the larger was pulling a water skier.

It must be more fun burning gas when the government is buying.

.... in the name of practice...

But in all honesty, the rescue vessel is funded more by privates and memberships than what the government puts into the pot.

A pilot boat crossing near Istanbul.

Hard to believe that these two pictures were taken about one minute apart.

I honestly don't know if this is a pilot boat or not. She's got the nice walk around deck but with the canoe stern I'm not sure she's fast enough.
