"Floatel Superior" was laid up at Grøtnes harbour in Tromsø back in june 2016.
Grøtnes harbour is located about 15 kilometers north of the city on the mainland.

There is another rig "Songa Enabler" on her way in to Olavsvern in Ramfjorden south of Tromsø.
She has finished her drilling job for Statoil at Snøhvit oil/gas field and will be laid up at the the old closed down naval base tuesday this week if everything goes as planned.

Being used to seeing oilrigs in open waters, it's a spectacular sight seeing this rig with those beautiful mountains as a backdrop!

Don't think I have ever seen images like this in the past.

"Songa Enabler" left Olavsvern south of Tromsø yesterday morning and headed for new test drilling in the Barents Sea.

Sorry for the picture quality, but the rig was over 11 kilometers away and the
                  tele zoom was only 150mm.

Here seen as she sails south in Rystraumen with offshore vessel "Normand Ferking" in front of the rig.

The rig was idle at the time this video was shot.

Extraordinary image - love the detail and clarity in this shot.

A massive piece of construction nonetheless.
