"Lance" got blackout northwest of Bjørnøya in the Barents sea last week, and was towed back to Tromsø.
The reason for the blackout according to the captain was dense diesel filters, but this is not yet confirmed.
Here she is heading south Tromsø strait this afternoon after the shipyard stay.

As the picture shows, the ice has scraped off the bottom lubrication throughout the waterline.
The ship came from seal hunting on the east coast of Greenland three weeks ago.

She (he?) is certainly well battered around the waterline. That's the first thing I noticed.

"Seal hunting" reminds me of the old Jack London novel "The Sea Wolf", 1904, though that was set in the Pacific not the Atlantic.

The sea-wolf of the title is Wolf Larsen, the tyranical captain of a sealing schooner sailing out of San Francisco, California. The story is told through the eyes of Humphrey Van Weyden, a wealthy young man of completely different social status from the other men on board. After a collision in San Francisco Bay, Van Weyden is rescued from the water by the outbound schooner and, unable to return to land, is reluctantly absorbed into the crew. His observations of, and relations with, the other men on board, particularly Captain Larsen, form the basis of the story. It essentially explores the meaning of life.

I highly recommend the novel to anyone who hasn't read it. Original is in English but I'm sure that translations are available.

Nice image of the Thun EOS.

I wonder is she is bringing LNG from the facility at Melkøya or from the south. I see she is right now half way on a journey from Tromsø to Tanager.
