  • The Swedish ship "Malmö" had a short stop in Tromsø to fill oil before continuing the trip to Longyearbyen tonight.
The season starts earlier for every year it looks like.
Another Swedish ship "Origo" started the season at Svalbard 3 weeks ago.

            • Arctic Module Carrier PUGNAX, cought with my Pentax (haha), anchored at the Freifjorden 1 Anchorage not far from my home.
PUGNAX is the sister ship of AUDAX built at Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (China) in 2016. She has two shaft lines rated at 12 megawatts each, can reach a top speed of 13 knots and break 1,5 meters of ice at 3 knots.
Her length is 206 meters and she's 43 meters wide. Operated by Red Box Energy Services, she's now heading Sabetta in northern Russia, on the western shore of Ob, where a port and LNG plant is under construction.

That is my kind of ship, only thisone can't submerge. (At least not voluntarily)
What was she doing in Freifjorden?

              • I'm amazed at the size and modern design of live fish carriers in Norway these days - there must be great revenue in this kind of trade.

This is a ship I'm very familiar with: frequently seen at Trondheim, loaded with cement.

What is the Seibas used for? She still have her fishing registry on the deckhouse fwrd. but the FRC MAY indicate something like Standby or Guard service for the Oil & Gas Industry.

The vessel is engaged in what you mention and is also engaged by the University Center in Svalbard (UNIS) in many projects around Svalbard and the Barents Sea, among other things.

                      • WAOW. Folla looks really loaded and deep in the water!

I had no idea she was trading that far north - I thought her route ended near or at Bodø.
