Re: Ship Spotters and Maritime Image Thread

Thanks for that Daniel - that's fascinating, and explains everything really well.

I still find it hard to believe the scale of the operation - these aren't small ships! Our supermarkets here are full of Norwegian salmon though, so there must be a lot of hungry fish out there!!

Thanks again for finding the time to describe this.
    Cheers,

    Mark.

      No problem
The ships are getting bigger, but so is also the Fish feed barges
Of course the weather and current is a factor when maneuvering to the barges, and sometimes we just have to wait for better conditions.
I think there are some pictures of the ships moored to the barges on the web page.

Oh, sorry! I did not mean to not answer...., but I guesss I've forgotten all about it because Mark had it all sorted out by himself, as he suggested the correct thing in his text

Hope Bay, not so pretty - but quite mighty.

What a great pair of images of Hope Bay! Not often one has the chance to photograph in both directions like that.

thats the nice thing of that port,we unload containers with juice concentrate there,
and though they want that we drive around to the shets,i always drive over the terminal,
the reason that we have to drive around is because the (un)loading of vessels and trucks on the quays.
but you know me,always against the rules,so i take the quay road, for looking and photographing the vessels.
in this case she was moored at the ''bottemside'' of the port,so i got 3 sides, the 4th side was diffeculd now,of containers that are stacked, the unloading with the cranes, and it was to cold to walk outside,al images are taken from out the merc.
                    best regards Thijs
