First spammer has been banned from our new home.

Today, on the 25th of December our first spammer was banned from our family to ever make another post again: efgh544.

I must say, the process of banning the user name and the IP address was a thrill compared to the old board because it was so simple and fast to do.

I would like to add also, that if you feel any of the posts made at CV are inappropriate, you may click on the "Attention Sign" in upper right corner of the post to advice me, so that I can take quick and firm action.
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

Immediately banned and reported to providers!

This is the exact same problem we had at the start on our old board as well, until our banned addresses were filled up and bad IP's were added to the ban list.

That's my duty! The least I could do....

There may occasionally be some spammers in the beginning as we train our spam filters to detect them. But I do not worry about them, with such a smart family, none of us will ever be caught up in their silly and non-relevant posts.

For future spams, or other posts which you feel are inappropriate, please feel free to use the anonymous Attention Sign on the right (Report Post). This board has a phenomenal warning system for inappropriate posters, and use easy-to-use banning tools for those that posts unfriendly messages. We strive keeping this friendly and informative, a place where we can have fun and share knowledge and experiences.

Way to go Jan-Olav, I applaud you sir!! There are enough idiots covering the net without them trying their luck on here.

It does seem to be busier than usual for spammers. I have never been involved at the very beginning of a forum. Oh if only I had my Red Ryder BB gun (A Christmas Story) to put these spammers in their place.

                      spam no more

                      Hallo Jan-Olav.

I have quite an extensive banlist containing roughly 4000 e-mail adresses.

I can post it here if it is of interest.

                        Hello Tommy,

That list would naturally be of interest: a spammer is and will forever be a spammer. Is that list also compiled based on a (vBulletin) forum?

When you get a moment, you may send me the list by PM or e-mail.

The list is a generic text file and can easily be added via the control panel in most bulletin boards.
In vBulletin i believe you find it under vbulletin options and user banning options in the scroll list.
Just copy paste the whole list into the Banned Email Addresses box.

I just attach the file here for convenience, I had to make it a zip file to be able to attach it though

Thanks so much... that helps a lot in these days as we "train" our filters!

On behalf of all of us here: once again thank you!
