A question for those in the know. How do i link one post straight back to another post? I know how to link to a particular thread, but how do i link straight back to one particular post in that thread? Tis a mystery to me at the moment, but i have seen it done, just cannot suss it for myself.

Edit: It's ok, i have worked it out, I have just spotted the small icon near the top right of each post. Just right click it and choose 'Copy link location', then just paste that into your new post. That sound about right? Any other ways of doing it?

I think you already found out, but let me see if I can help shed any light on your question anyway:

if I understand you correct, you would like the exact link to one particular post in a thread?

As you mention, just click the post number in the right top corner of the post and copy that link.

I think this is what you found out (honestly, it took me some time before I found this function also a while ago... I still learn something every day! )
              With kind regards,

                Copy/paste

Someone's advice would be appreciated here, please. I want to post a largish piece of text to go with 3 photos (yes Pakarang - you asked me for it!) and to save a lot of typing (so-called!) I'd like to simply paste it from Word. But would the formatting increase the file size? It's only 32 Kb on my hard drive, but I think funny things can happen when posting on websites. Also, if it's possible, is Verdana the default font on CV?
                In hopes, thanks.

                  Dear wherrygirl,

I will try to answer your questions as best as I can.

I think the maximum number of letters, spaces, and markers in each post is set to 10.000. Anything above that won't fit in a single post. If the post is longer, it is suggested to break it into several posts where it feels most natural.

Verdana is our default, yes, but you are able to change the font that you use. If you look on top of your writing window, you will see a drop down menu which gives you some selections. We do however ask every one to use this at their discretion, because if everyone chose different fonts, it would be very tiring to read.

Pakarang, that's great. It's only 7140 characters+spaces at the moment, and I've only a few words to add as acknowledgement of sources. I've 4 pics. to upload as well, I assume the thread won't snap under the strain! (Ouch...)
I've no wish to change fonts, it's OK. I just wanted to put it in the right one before uploading.
By the way, I've not forgotten about my 2 boats for Veteran Ships. But I'll probably not be able to get access to them yet for photos, they'll most likely open at Easter. That'll give me time to resume plaguing you all with my plaintive "Where did I take this photo, please?"
                    Wa-hey!

Thinking about it.... please don't shoot me if the total number of letters is 1.000...

I don't really remember, but thinking about it, maybe it is maximum 1000?

I would say that the first guess of 10.000 is correct, i know it must be more than 1000 because i have posted much bigger posts than that. I just had a quick look at one long post i did about 'Waverider' buoys, there were more than one hundred letters in just the first line of text, and there was certainly much more than ten lines. It's amazing how quick the letter count rises on even the smallest posts, there are well over 200 in this small post alone. So i would go for the 10.000 guess.

Right, Chief. I had a count around too, and thought that of the 2 options, 10,000 would be the one. Many thanks to you and Pakarang.

TIP # 5: Add tags to the threads you visit and create.

Needless to say, this is very important for the continued growth of the forum. In each thread you create or sometimes visit, add tags (searchable words) which will create hits to that particular thread when and if someone searches the Internet.

I've done my part, and doing so as much as I can, for every thread I visit.

This will in the long run increase traffic to the forum, and possibly tempt new members to join our family.

With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli
