A very merry Christmas to you too, and welcome home to grey, cold and wet Scotland!

In Trondheim today, snow is falling, but temepratures are raising and a storm is on the way too.

Even though I KNOW your trip to Thailand was amazing, I still hope it was even better than you wanted it to be before you left.

I will be leaving for Thailand soon too... as always, I can't wait to plant myself in the Kingdom again.

Thank you - and how happy it makes me to see you have written "I KNOW" (in such big letters!).
I could never have imagined before I went how the 5th December would unfold into such an extraordinary, moving and profound experience.

I am actually away again already, and am in London. Tomorrow, Sunday, I join the group travelling to Guatemala, and on Monday evening we board SERENISSIMA at Puerto Quetzal. There will be 86 of us, plus ten staff among which the Assistant Expedition Leader is Kristine Hannon who contributed so much to this forum at the time when we were so concerned about the future of HARALD JARL / ANDREA. Those of you who enjoy webcam-watching might want to make a note in your diary for Tuesday 7th February when we make a daytime transit of the Panama Canal!

Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to the photo report.

Enjoy your trip so much, Cecilia. Will make a note on my pc desktop for 7. February so I remember it. I guess you're all on AIS, so I can find the ship.

Even if the ship may not pop up on Marine Traffic etc.ALL the way down the Pacific coast (and just to confuse you we go up into Mexico before heading in the Panama direction), you will for sure see SERENISSIMA on AIS awaiting her turn to enter the Canal! Remember Panama time is UTC -5 hours.

I'm back! (Just a bit bogged down with the usual issues here just now.)

So many memories - so many photos!
Glad such a lot of you were able to follow the trip in real time on FB - I was surprised I did so well with the wi-fi.
VERY special thanks to Bengt for the WONDERFUL capture of the ship in the locks at Panama that he posted on Serenissima’'s thread

Welcome back and welcome home, Lady C!

I'm in Norway for just a few days myself, and will be commuting quite frequently between Norway and Thailand the next half a year, perhaps the next year.

Hello everyone! If you saw my last post in the Serenissima thread you might just possibly have guessed where I am!
Greetings from Serenissima!!!!! I’ am sitting out on the aft deck and we are shortly leaving Calvi, Corsica.
D had wanted to have a holiday (possibly before a likely change in his medication which might make getting away for a couple of weeks more difficult), and even said he’’ would pay for me. I wonder what you’ would have chosen? I had thought about Viking Sea Cruises, but I decided that with D I needed something where I didn’’t have to plan activities and was generally more organised. Then as a repeat passenger I got an offer of a remaining cabin on a Serenissima cruise, and the dates fitted in. Couldn’t resist!

Sorry our Corsica visits didn’t coincide! I enjoyed the visit to Calvi very much.

Wonderful! May you both be blessed with fair seas, clear skies and wonderful sunsets. Naturally, being the Serenissima, I know the food and the service will be outstanding!

                  Enjoy your cruise, Lady C!

It is working out particularly well today Svein - with Birthday Greetings for D already from the cabin stewardess set out on our return from a morning excursion, and I know what will be likely to happen at dinner!

                    Cecilia,

And please don't forget to ask what they think about those stabilisers

Thanks Cecilia, you are a star.

I wish you both a wonderful cruise with "Serenissima"

A picture from Porto Di Portoferraio in the early afternoon showing "Serenissima" moored
Not the best picture, but the ship is easily recognizable.

                      Great capture! Thank you Bengt.

Lady C is currently underway from Bonifacio to Napoli.... steaming along at just above 14 knots!

Bet she is having a wonderful on board dinner as we speak!

Yes! There were engine visits in the afternoon - always more spectacular when underway of course! And then an absolutely yummy dinner followed a lecture about Vesuvius. This morning I photographed the volcano with a fabulous sunrise as the ship approached Naples.

Speaking of engine visits,,, did you ask about the stabilizers? Don't forget it !!!

I have now been back a few days after what has been a very successful though inevitably exhausting trip with "cabin second-mate" (i.e. the human being rather than the soft squidgy mascot #1!).

The Mediterranean itineraries tend to attract somewhat more sedate guests than, say, my trips to the Azores and to Panama, and the staff accompanying the local guides on excursions were very good about factoring in those all important breaks and toilet stop opportunities. Consequently, and to my absolute astonishment, D went on ALL the excursions every single day!
Dining room staff I already knew ensured no difficulty in meal matters, AND super birthday celebrations for him!

As I may have mentioned, the cruise date was not picked to include the birthday, but was a narrow window of opportunity before this week when D will be in hospital for a scheduled procedure/tests on Thursday. So I haven't even had time to download all my photos yet. Next update from me in a few days will hopefully be in the Serenissima thread with some answers to one of your questions
