  • Seagull away a while . . .

Just to say I will be away until 12 September, aboard Fram in Greenland. I hope BTNO fix the webcams soon (they say they are working on the problem) so that you can follow my voyage, but if not perhaps the expedition crew will update their blog frequently.
I will then only have one week back home, scarcely time to catch up on what you have all been doing, before I go down to England for a week for yet another conference – so you will for sure have a nice quiet rest from the squawking seagull for a while!!

Goodbye presents to be found on the threads Norfolkline Rosyth / Zeebrugge and on the Cruiseships in Scottish Waters pages.

Thanks all for your good wishes. The Greenland voyage has been absolutely amazing. Still trying to take it all in really and absorb all the impressions and experiences, and that’s before I’ve looked at my photos! Now the Seagull has flown home, but only “sort of” because as explained above I’m almost immediately off down to England – but I couldn’t resist a quick look at CV before then.

Wow, did I just say QUICK???????!!!!

There has been so much happening on CV that you haven’t missed me at all - except for a concerned and sympathetic Ralf (on the Norway “This is Lofoten” thread) trying to rise to the impossible challenge of switching pakarang out of overdrive!

So, as I have no time to possibly catch up reading, let alone making comments and contributions to all the interesting threads, I have applied to Captain for Special Dispensation, and hope to be forgiven if I even miss some altogether!

But I will post something in Fram’s thread in the next day or two before I go off again, just to wake up the Framsters!!!!

Home? Not sure where that is right now. Perhaps I’ve become “institutionalised” after being on Fram so long – I need the daily sheet to tell me where I am, when mealtimes are, what I should be doing at what time, what the ****tail of the day is . . . such a marvellous voyage!

Of course I actually think it is absolutely great that there has been so much activity here on CV recently.
E, did you see those posts on the Norway This is Lofoten thread? – so funny, Ralf trying to slow pakarang down and pakarang being so impishly cheeky about all the catching up I’d have to do! I got a lovely welcome back.

Can’t believe I managed to be on CV so much during these few days between being away, but I’m sort of prepared and packed nevertheless, and I have an early flight down to Bristol in the morning. So finally I’ll post something on Fram’s page just to keep you all entertained – not that it is really necessary, what with Talk like a Pirate Day and so many other delights happening at the moment (if I hadn’t this conference commitment, I think I’d have been tempted to pop over to Norway to stalk Shtandart!).
Looking forward to the catching up, so enjoy yourselves everyone!

It’s already been mentioned in Hurtigruten threads, but just to say I’ll be away all week, and in particular will be aboard Trollfjord from Sunday 15 February,

Safe voyages to the far north Seagull... bring back lots of photos, naturally.

... and don't forget to be a give good PR for CVF to fellow sailors....!

The Seagull is back . . . but I’ll be rather quiet for a while because of so much to do before I’m off travelling again! – only 12 days to go! So apart from allowing myself just a few responses to some posts this afternoon, I need to be VERY disciplined. The priority has to be catching up with project 365. Finding the skyscapes amongst so many photos will be a challenge (though I think today, first day back, has been the nearest I’ve come to forgetting to take a photo! ).

Then there’s lots of positive things to report about the Hurtigruten group trip, a special post for pakarang, and yes I did photograph the Northern Lights . . . and by the time I've shown you these things it will probably be time for the Seagull to fly away again.

That is what I call a busy seagull.... you should be joining the flocks of birds heading south for the winter...

Glad you had a great trip and that you are many new experiences richer.

I was supposed to go to Thailand to handle an emergency next month as well, but it has become cost prohibitive as it is high season and the air tickets are way too costly these days. Hope to see you around here before you head off.
