I'm working on a new blog update explaining why I have been so busy lately - got so much to tell, and are looking for the right words. I hate to walk into a snakes pit and become keel hauled because I was using the wrong words again. Been there, done that. Writing has become a truly complicated affair - so I need to be careful, hence the long time to write, rewrite, rewrite again and even one more time. I have written a piece, but probably rewritten it 4 times already by now - it's like composing a gigantic opera.

Hope I can shed some light later tonight but in the meanwhile, here is latest blog entry: http://www.captainsvoyage.com/its-a-...im-moving.html

      Hi Jan-Olav
      Congratulations on your new home
Exciting to settle in a different district than you have been accustomed to over the last five years
You may begin to get things into place gradually now that it's been three weeks since you took over the apartment
Expect that you really enjoy finally having your own home in Trondheim
I wish you the very best for the future
      Best wishes from
      Bengt Domben

        Dear Grindøya,

Thank you so very much for the kind words... and yes, it's an absolutely undiscrabable feeling. No more having to get up in the morning and feel the apartment so cold that it's just a few degrees warmer than the outside temperature... no more moist room, not isolated walls, tiny bathroom with no warmth...

One of the most fantastic things now is to get up in the morning and the shower room is heated through the floor and warm! I love taking showers now.... !

Getting more and more "in place" every day but still a few things to fix and settle.... takes time.... with work, and hospital in between, I do as much as I can when I can.

No matter what.... this Christmas will be the most amazing Christmas of my life - no doubt about it. Christmas in my first OWN Norwegian home!

        YAAAY!

Here is an explenation for those with an exceptional interest.

I know a LOT about this disease - this one thing is the one main root cause to all my current medical problems, and immune-failure deficiency that I experience every day.

Dengue fever, also know as Breakbone fever:

but then again CATS are welcome now.
but Thailand is of the cart now?
              best regards Thijs

                Dear Thijs,

Thank you very much - hope you some day will come and visit!

Yes, sadly, I can't see any sea, fjord, lake or ocean from this apartment - that will be hard I guess, but I've got a back up - a glass of water in the window!

Oh, yes.... cats are allowed here! The neighbor have one, all black cat - I might get one too sometime in the future. It's always been something I have wanted.

Thailand is never off the cart - but for now, Trondheim will be the place. For how long, I have no idea. The good thing about life is that we do not know what comes tomorrow or next month.

Now that you are more or less settled in...., I wish you all the best and many good years in your (your!) new home :-)
I know all about that bathroom heat problem, as we got a heated floor and a new bathroom in our 1974 house just 6 months ago :-)

                      Enjoy every minute ;-)

                          Thank you very much Sigve!

I agree with you Sterkoder - a bathroom with heat in the floor is an understated thing. I never knew the morning routine of shower could be so nice - I bet I have tripled my water usage since moving here though...

Just giving you all a "little heads up"... as I will be away for the next 2,5 months, more or less permanently.

I'm going to return to Thailand again for what can be described as (a) very hectic visit(s) in the next couple of months. Departing on May 25th early in the morning, right off a nightwatch, to Bangkok. Flying Thai naturally. All refundable flights are indeed the best option.

I will return to Norway again on June 15th, just in time to catch a couple of days duty on the ferry. As soon as those days are up on June 29th, I'll be leaving directly from the ship to the airport and heading back to Thailand again.

Lot's of things in the pot: important medical surgery, attending a friend's grand wedding, inaugurating a temple, being a supporting host on a Thai TV-show, finally starting the building of a new house in the province, visiting a children's home for orphan children living with HIV, some incredible foot massages, a lot of temple visits and consultations with monks, relaxing meditation and most importantly, visiting friends around the country. I will also be back on board the "remains" of former coastal steamer Kong Olav, if all goes as planned. Can't wait to be "home" again.
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli
