Thank you so much, Lady C!

I noticed last trip in particular (perhaps because the amount of carry-on) how heavy and tiresome it is to be carrying heavy bags through large airports. Then I saw all these that effortless pushed around a four-wheeled light case.

Tha Maharaj has a great Starbucks coffee shop - a friend of mine used to work in that shop a while back. Been there quite a few times. It's also got a great "roof-terrace" to watch the riverboats.

Your visit to the crematorium is one my list as well!

Been to that ‘bucks! And there is a nice restaurant with terrace near there too where I ate last time I was in Bangkok.

If you plan on going to the crematorium and exhibition, it is best to avoid weekends when there are HUGE crowds, queues and long waiting times. I went on a weekday. As I’d reached the area by boat at Tha Maharaj there’s a passport checkpoint near the corner by the Grand Palace which is where they assume farangs are heading! So I ignored being pointed towards the palace and walked round Sanam Luang to the northern end near the Royal Hotel. That is the entrance they are using at the moment. I walked straight in, given a badge, water and a sandwich, and was then sitting in the tents for only half an hour before being let in to see the actual crematorium and exhibitions. Although one is supposed to then have an hour and the badges are colour coded, nobody seems to mind and I spent over two hours there.

      EDIT added November 23rd.
One of these days I might actually manage to get my brain in gear before rambling on and pressing send!
The crematorium and exhibition is supposed to end on November 30th ...and you are arriving on the 29th and heading straight for Khorat!
However ...there are rumours that it might be extended into December ...but no official confirmation as yet.

hahahahahahaha.... the best one was the Coastal Steamer-dock one stormy night many years ago. I had to swear to the Port Captain that no matter what, I HAD to leave ahead of the arrival of the coastal steamer the following morning!

        Dear Lady C, dear all,

Captain is on the move AGAIN - or very soon, on the move again. Destination is no great surprise I think: Thailand.

I will be on my wings for the next 2-3 weeks, but will try to check in here as often as I can.

Please take good care all and s†ay safe always!

Captain “doing a pakarang” ...my new phrase for winging ones way to Thailand!

Thank you very much, Lady C.... yes, I'm doing a "pakarang".... though, that is normally associated with something gone wrong. hahahahaha

Since I still haven't returned to Facebook, I will be uploading short videos to CaptainsVoyage on youtube, as well as Instagram instead.

So excited - but it's been so hectic around me the past week, I haven't even started packing my stuff yet.... I got the suitcase out of the basement though, but that's about it.

Will try travelling light as possible this time (again) but I always end up with too much .... I thought I would get a lot of experience with all these commuter trips but each time gets worse. What is wrong with me?

        hahahahahahaha.....

Looking forward to check out the new GOLD lounge at OSL.... it's supposed to be really great, I've been told.

Haha ...I guess I have my own meanings for all sorts of things, and “doing a pakarang” covers not only Thailand visits but also you dashing around the country, “speed sightseeing” and suchlike typical traits!

Yes I would have thought you’d have got packing down to a fine art by now. The only other advice I can think of that you might possibly take any notice of is to remind you to leave plenty of room in your case for any Shopping Temptations here in Bangkok!!!!

Just in case you are wondering, it's confusing times to say at least...

Great skys in those pictures. The not-so-wintery weather will seem much less confusing to you after some weeks over here though!

Dear Lady C.... thank you so much for dropping by!

Hope your stay in Bangkok has been an absolutely fantastic one! Can't wait to read your stories and hopefully see some of your images.

My own journey has finally been set as I received an e-mail this morning with information on which flight I was being sent to. I had hoped it would be Stockholm Arlanda or Copenhagen, but apparently, I'm due to fly out on TG955 from Oslo tomorrow at 13:15 hours, Tuesday 28th 2017. Just in case anyone would like to check up on my flight and make sure I get there alright.

I will be making an effort to visit here from time to time, but like previous trips, it always proves a bit hard.

Otherwise, you will also find me on several Instagram-accounts, and I plan to upload travel videos to youtube. Sadly, I never managed to gain 100 followers so I could go LIVE, but within time, maybe next trip.... I need to upload a lot more material first I guess. So far, I have not been tempted to return to Facebook quite yet - and I'm receiving a h3ll of a bashing about that. LOOOOL. Don't care.

Thank you all and have a wonderful pre-Christmas time.

Have a great time in Thailand.
As I write, you're over Kabul, Afghanistan, 4000 feet below a Thai Airbus 380 from Frankfurt to Bangkok.

It’s OFFICIAL!!!!!! Our Captain has definitely arrived in Thailand
...and I can also confirm the new all-time record for the shortest ever CaptainsVoyage meet-up

But wow, what an awesome moment, being together on Thai soil after all those years of thinking he would never get back here.

In case you were wondering, I hadn’t made one of those meet-and-greet cards with the CV logo to stand around holding in the arrivals hall, tempting as that was - so settled for a ladylike hug instead.

I saw our happy smiling Captain off to the car hire desks, and wished him safe travels ...he has quite a way to drive this morning.

For you flight trackers, you may now turn your attention to my departure at 13:20 Thai time BKK to LHR on TG916

It's always nice to meet a fellow "CaptainsVoyager" a long way from home. Glad you two made it.
So, I see you're fortunate enough to ride in a brand new Airbus 350 back to London, C. Tell us about it whenever you've got the time.
Following you now, just passing the east coast of India at 38.000 feet above Saharabedi
                Safe flight, happy landing.

I see Seagull is passing above Minsk (Belarus) at 40.000 feet as I write this with THA 916 on her way home.

Good to see that Captain has changed his plans a bit and avoided that immediate long drive right after a long flight. Maybe he noticed how dubious I seemed about such a tiring schedule immediately on arrival.
You all got to look at his CaptainsVoyage channel on You tube ...there are two super videos already. See him for yourself in the first at TRD. The second includes dramatic ice and snow scenes at OSL ...and sample in-flight entertainment including minions I watched that on my flight too ...the phrase great minds think alike possibly comes to mind!

Great flight tracking from Sterkoder and Azimut. I stayed for a final relaxing treat at the Sofitel in LHR T5 before a flight to EDI later this afternoon.

Our Captain has landed! I expect he is feeling the cold and needs cheering up.
Lille Nisse seems to think the idea of a VIP luxury limousine-sled transfer service at TRD will give him a laugh ...but without a blanket or reindeer skin in sight it seems like a chilly option to me!
