Thank you all for the good wishes which I have passed on to D.
And at last his broadband issues have been solved, though it does make me wonder how 'non-technical customers' manage to get anything like this sorted!

Just a short update on my unemployment situation: I'm now an employee again :-)
The phone rang earlier today, and it was the CEO of Control Union Industrial Inspection Norge AS, offering me a job. Needless to say I took it, and come Wednesday, he will send me a contract to read through. Only then I will know more. As of just now, it's Friele coffee and Bache VSOP cognac on the table. (Yes, I know it's only Monday :-) )

                    Thank you so much, Ralf!
Something is in my eyes too, or at least it was after I had hung up the phone from the CEO :-)
Now I have the possibility to start with an all white and clean sheet of paper. Feels good. Official start is November 28th.
The best thing is that my new job is the same as what I had at Swire.

Thank you, Mark. I'm thrilled and really look forward to start. My colleauge will be a guy from Scotland, who worked and lived in Kristiansund for a while, but anyway :-)

Aaah, I feel like I could use a week of vacation now.
So the question is, where to go?
Some basic requirements: warm - not necessarily hot, not too much change in time zones. Something more than just sun and pool.
                    Canaria, Spain? Any other suggestions?

My first thought was Croatia - somewhere round Split, and/or Hvar.

But, I don't know about the climate there at this time of the year.

Great place and relatively "cheap" too (compared to Norway).

I hadn't commented here earlier because all my travels at this time of year seem to have been north and cold or southeast and tropical, and so didn't fit your brief. But Lanzarote sounds appropriate and an excellent choice.
Wishing you happy travels, and don't forget your camera!!!!
