Cruising with Vision of the Seas, June 2012

Before anything else is said, I'm very tempted to join the Vision of the Seas on one of her Oslo - Saint Petersburg - Oslo cruises this coming summer.

The "from"-prices are reasonable, and without knowing the dates and such, it looks tempting.

    BUT.

So far, so early in the game, NOTHING is decided. I might go, I might not. I'm also returning to Thailand next year, so it's still a bit too early to say.

With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

On board the Vision of the Seas, why do they have a model of a ship owned by their competitor, Norwegian Cruise Line?

Well, despite what I've said about it all in another thread, it sure sounds tempting.

Furthermore, you've mentioned a couple of places that you are 'returning to Thailand'...., and even here you write it in a way leaving me wondering for how long.
You've never used the word vacation or holiday once...
You plan for something permanent maybe...?

Well, to put it as simple as possible, a future relocation back to Thailand is absolutely planned.

I tried living in Norway, but I do not feel like I fully belong here and I do miss Thailand every day. I guess Thailand will always be the place where I can feel completely at home and with friends that I hold very dear. Moving back will naturally also mean a permanent end to my nautical and my seagoing career. The only thing which is not certain at this moment is the aspect of time. I have several job opportunities lined up, and a few of them are being seriously considered. I do speak, read and write Thai fluently, and I guess that is an asset, in addition to the experience I already have from living and working there.

We will see, we will see....

Although we want you here, I see your side..., and understand it to the fullest.
Guess I'll have to visit Trondheim soon then.....

Hi Jan Olav , feeling quite sad reading your last post, when you say it would be the end of your Nautical and seagoing career if you go to Thailand. You have to do what your heart desires and you have a great love for Thailand and i am sure you will make the right decision . For now we will continue to enjoy the Forum and the work you put into it.

              Dear all,

Thank you all so very much for your support and thoughts.

Nothing in life is certain, so the next years might be interesting for me (I hope). But, for the continuation of that story ("Breaking news"), I'll promise to share the thoughts in Captains Quarter when things are starting to fall more into place.

Returning back to the original subject of the thread, how about post number 2?

Kind of strange that RCI has a model of a ship that belongs to their competitor on board.

Only just seen this thread. The return to Thailand is what you have been aching for all the time, isn't it? For your sake I hope it will take place smoothly and give you happiness.

I repeat your question so that it doesn't get lost!
