    Belated New Years greeting!!!
A small village if you can even call it that, Glomset, near Aalesund, had one of the most spectacular fireworks display in Norway.
11 min. of professional display is not cheap:

The only claim of fame for Glomset is that is the location of a new becoming famous hotel:

Even though I have not been able to create a beautiful image like so many of you have in this post, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my greetings.

From the bottom of my heart, an extremely belated and delayed wish for a happy season. I hope that all of you had a wonderful time over the past few weeks, full of great food, lots of candies and family time.

I hope that you all had the chance to lower your shoulders and that you all had an opportunity to celebrate all the traditions dear to you.

For the new year, I wish you all the best of great health, some wealth and incredible experiences in the year ahead. Remember that like January 1st 2018, this is the first day in the rest of your life.

For 2018, I would like you all to pay it forward. When someone does something good for you, immediately go out and do something good for three others.

Eventually, you may have someone do something good for you again - and at the same time, you are making the world a better place for all of us.

      Happy New Year 2018!
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

It is Chinese New Year's Eve today. (Or Spring Festival, depending on your religious belief, if any)
        CONG XI FA CAI
(or Kong Hee Fa Choy, if you are Cantonese speaker)

This being Year of the Golden Dog, it is also Donald Trump's year (he is 72 this year).
A Shopping Mall, in North China is honouring him with a large display of a Dog Statue in his likeness:

I'm not a Buddhist, but the little candle flames do, I hope, send out rays of hope for this benighted world.

Thank you very much - as a practicing Buddhist (perhaps the only one here at CVF?), I appreciate the greetings.

Yesterday was the Chinese Mid-autumn Festival, aka Moon Cake Festival because you have to eat Moon cakes on that day, (we didn't have any this year) aka Lantern Festival because the children gets to play with colourful lanterns. (we don't have any any more):

We did get a glimpse of the Autumn Moon in between the clouds though:

Happy Deepaval... or Divali ... Indian festival of lights!

                      More information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali

I will celebrate the evening with a generous glass of aged red grapes and the movie "Padmavati".... (my most favourite Indian Bollywood movie EVER!).

Here is the festival of light from the movie.... WOW! Insert big heart + love emoticon right here!
