I would like to say Merry Christmas with a illustration I found on the net that is a bit special for me.
I think the illustration itself is only a couple of years old, but it shows a small snowy village in the northern parts of Finland, as it looked during the first half of the 20th century.
The red buildings on the right lower part of the picture is the local school. The grey building on the left side is partly the school canteen (?), but also the home of my mother. I've spent most summers of the 80's visiting this house. Our summer cottage was located just outside the picture. It was a great feeling to find out that someone actually made an illustration of this place.

      Merry Christmas!

Big contrast between those two beautiful pictures. Thank you, Mark and Tommi.

I echo Ivy's sentiments - nice, festive piks.

Wishing all on the Captain's Voyage forum a very merry Christmastime, and a happy, prosperous and peaceful 2017.

Wishing all who reside in those Northern (snowy)countries a happy Christmas from one who hopes it will not be too hot on the day....

It is two days to go before the sun turns at the shortest day of the year and only 5 days to X-Mas Eve!!!
In Aalesund we have snow on the mountains and on X-Mas Cards, where it belongs:

Yes you can see it there at the highest point on Sula.

The grass is green in the garden:

And the thermometer showed a balmy 14 degr. this morning:

MERRY X-MAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL CVF MEMBERS AND GUEST, WHETHER YOU ARE FREEZING OR SWEATING.

14 degr. ???? Here it was only about 6 or 7C. yesterday and the same today, if not colder. And I always thought Bunga.y was south of Norway.........

Hello to you all on CVF
I want with this photo of the lovely old classic vessel "Saga Ruby" (now "Oasia") wish you all a Happy New Year and best wishes for 2017

The image of Saga Ruby was taken early on the morning of 25.03.2009 inbound to Tromsø.

Last I checked she lay at anchor in Thailand at Sattahip in position: N 12.57601 ° E 100.88075 °

So very very happy to hear from you Bengt
Wish you absolutely the best for the NewYear.

(That's a beautiful photo too ...and I'd had no idea of what subsequently happened to that classic ship.)
