It is white!!! What do you expect of Norway in these climate change days????

      • #19
You wanted more of the white stuff? Then you should have been watching TV. I missed it on Christmas Eve, but it was repeated last night, and is probably available on the iPlayer. Yes! - BBC4 have been in in Norway, the land that invented "Slow TV" to make their latest slow TV offering - "The Sleigh Ride"!

I watched the whole two hours - marvellously mesmerising and calming.

Yep - saw bits of it Cecilia. It was, err, slow, wasn't it!

There is a perfectly respectable bus service to and fro Karasjok - may have been a bit quicker?

I notice that the film had the same producer as the two hour 'real time' programme that took us along the Kennet and Avon Canal from Bath towards Dundas earlier in the year. Similar sort of thing, but with boats instead of reindeer! Doesn't still seem to be on the iPlayer which is a shame.
          Cheers,

          Mark.

Ah, the full title is "All Aboard! The Sleigh Ride". It can be viewed from this iplayer link:-

(and is also downloadable until 25-January).

Cecilia - sorry, I meant the canal programme: All aboard: The Canal Trip! The reindeer version of the M1 motorway is still very much there. Have since discovered that the canal is on Youtube though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tm4_vC9AU8

Nari - yup, the BBC is a little odd about letting anyone who doesn't live in the UK access too much. NRK are just as bad when we want to watch Norwegian stuff. See if this Youtube link to the finnbiff works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCo629dOiOk

Not really hiding anywhere, Ivy. Just trying to get by day by day. However, if you want a game of hide and seek, *tig*, you're it!

Well, I could just have done with a good laugh to cheer me up and boy, have I now had one after watching that. I was laughing out loud at every round. Such a delightful, slow but steady progression where one knew just what was coming next but it was still so ridiculously funny. And how well acted. That final exit was, of course, the ending to beat all endings. Oh, it was great, thank you so much, Ombugge.
Strange that we don't know it here, yet it is so well known and cherished elsewhere.

Umm-um, looks a right little monkey, I'm not sure about him. Apparently I was born in a Red Monkey year, but on another page it announced that I'm a Green Monkey. I see trouble ahead.....
