My 4-5year old laptop (Windows Vista... ughhhhh) is striking and about to go up in smoke.... and I pray to Santa (for immediate delivery), that he ship me the new MacBookPro 15 inch fully loaded with all the fancy-smancy extras....

Now, does dearest Santa make between Christmas deliveries or is he on a strict nothing between Christmas deal?

If I start a waffle sale, a Kransekake advisory, svele run or something other crazy, could I make up the some 2500US that I would need....?

Yiiiikkkeeesss.... with all the stuffing I can not live without, it appears as if I need to sell a kidney or my "Rolf" to be able to afford it....

Where is Donald T when I need him? If I had an iPHONE 3GS, I could naturally have called him also....

I'm planning on the purchase of an Apple MacBookPro 13 inch some time this year...

I have absolutely fallen in love with it, and want one so badly...

My Sony Vaio laptop is not turning almost 5 years and is not what it used to be, in addition to me being so done with MS...

Love the iPhone (too....) but I feel it's way to expencive here in Norway, as they have to be bought with a one year commitment subscription.

In the States, are they also connected to a certain phone company for an x number of months?

Iphones are only available through AT&T...although there is a rumor that Apple may re-negotiate that in the next year.

It is thought that 40% of At&T's present customer base is because of the iphone!!!

Over here, the phones are "locked" --you can't switch from one mobile company to the other....stupid, but so is the entire cell phone system here in the US.

Apple originally approached Verizon, my mobile carrier. Verizon turned them down, saying Apple wanted too much control, etc. They now admit that was a big mistake.

Funny, though, most of my friends who have AT&T (service coverage for which just arrived here in the Middle-Of-Nowhere last year) aren't really happy with their iphones. They seem to work best in Atlanta, New York, those kind of big cities.

All things being equal, would I change from my blackberry to an iphone if Verizon carried it??? I don't know...I LOVE my blackberry, and it works all over the world....but it is a bit of a pain, as half the apps I use are blackberry, half are ipod..

I do have Apples "mobile me" software, so it pushes all my info- calendar, word docs, etc- onto my ipod touch if I want.....

I DO wish the US would drag itself into the modern age, mobile-wise...and cut the worldwide tariffs so calling all over the world was the same as Europeans calling Europeans.............

Here in Norway, the iPhone works with a couple of service providers (as far as I know): telenor and NetCom...

There is a one year mandatory subscription contract at purchase. What happens after a year, I'm not sure.

The new big thing here in Norway, is the soon to come 4G system, I've heard.

Still the same old... no salary as of yet. A new phone subscription is not at the top of my list quite yet. I use one of those overly expensive prepaid cards.

Grrrrr.....How are businesses run in Norway????????? They don't pay you for the first year???? Geez, that would never fly here...but then again, here all you have to do is show some proof of ID to get whatever phone plan you want....they DESPERATELY want you for that two-year commitment....giving Iphones away.........

Note to self: Remove Jan-Olav from your speed dial so you don't keep calling him every time you sit down with your phone in your jeans pocket..........

Actual you now can buy a iPhone here in Norway, and use it with a subscription from any of the network suppliers.
The only drawback is the price.
I do some purchase of mobile phones every week, and do not use Telenor or NetCom as the network supplier.
The price for the iPhones last week was approximately NOK 6000,- + NOK 600 for using a 3. part nettwork supplier = US$1230,- or GB£630,-

4G or LTE (Long Term Evolution) is in use in Oslo (by NetCom) - this is only for datacom and has a datarate at aprox 100Mb/s.

                          GEEZ--that price is AMAZING...

Also, Captain...why do the MacBooks seem priced so much more in Thailand and Norway...

Here's what's on Apple right now...

I noticed that price difference on MacBooks as well...

I might get one from Thailand, I would save almost a thousand dollars, and I could get one with the very important Thai character keyboard which I often actually would need (when writing things I do not want anybody to see)....
