    Photo Assignment: Self Portraits...

    Photo Assignment: Self Portraits...

We started this thread with mixed results on the old forum:

Photo Assignment: Portrait photography and self portraits

I just noticed that on one of the photo-forums I often frequent, their thread in this category had grown to an amazing 6.200+ posts!

So, it is therefore I reopen this thread and look forward to seeing you all, and new members posting some images of themselves (self portrait)...

Don't be shy, there is nothing to be embarrassed about... !

While not really a self portrait it is one of the few times I am in a photograph. A fellow traveler took this photo of my wife and I as we took picutres of the monkeys in Costa Rica. He thought it was funny because of the different size cameras. He took this photo with his iPhone.

No matter what anyone else may say, it's really not the size that counts....

It's been a long time since we have posted images of ourselves, so called self portraits! At another photo forum which I frequent and hang out, the self portrait thread is almost 600 pages long and holding more than 8.200 posts!!!

Are we way too shy, are we too afraid?

I kick start this thread again by posting an image of myself from a time of the year which I love the most: s-u-m-m-e-r ! (To be honest, today, I really started missing summer: the snow is not white anymore, it's still cold, it's dark.... )

We are so shy - too shy - here...

I could not decide whether the title for this image should be "I'm watching you" or "In the eye of the beholder".....

Now see, if I had blue eyes like this (or like my mom or my son) I would try to take photos like this...

                Brown eyes are sooooo....boring.

You absolutely don't need blue eyes to take pictures of yourself...

I have always thought that the combination of dark brown eyes and blond hair was unusual and hence most attractive in a woman. However I never wished my eyes were brown instead of light blue because what I really would have liked were my mother’s green eyes. They seemed, or at least one presumed, they were blue from a distance –but then closer you realised they had all these green tones.
I remember as a girl noticing how it fascinated people who met her for the first time. Sadly I don’t think I have a photograph of her that shows it –all that black and white photography.

Am I the only one daring enough to post self portraits?

Two images from that very cold trip to Røros back in early December 2009:

I love this old QM cap from my time on board the Royal Viking Sun at the beginning of my nautical career:
