A contribution from me - loads and loads of things I would do differently if I knew then (in 2009) what I know now, but what are the chances of having so many ships in the port at the same time - even if the Queen is scuttling for cover. Hopefully 2013 will bring the chance to do something similar, but better. Nothing like as good as Jan Olav's brilliant Trondheim one above.

And finally for now, Adriana, Arielle and Astor on the berth - 2006.

Spot the comedy rope on this one!!

Looking at these ones from ages ago makes me want to have another go at all of these, with a proper camera and some decent software - and to get it right this time!!

            Super new thread pakarang!
It takes a bit of bravery to “follow that” after your Trondheim masterpiece, but I’m feeling a bit braver now with PoloUK and Tommi for company.

Though actually when I come to look I’ve posted quite a number of panoramas over the years…even ones of Trondheim which is VERY brave …especially when taken as long ago as early 2003!!!!

Indeed Trondheim seems to have brought on the panorama urge rather frequently and there are more of these early efforts here, as well as some thoughts/cheeky comments about them in #18 of that thread!

By coincidence I had actually posted a panorama in a Thailand thread earlier yesterday, but here is one of Ålesund airport taken as recently as last year, hand held and through a window.

              Dear all,

Panoramas are something I normally don't do... in the sense that I seldom think of that format at all. I'm very pleased and very thankful to see all these images you all have added to the thread.

There is something special, something very special, when sharing such images... it inspires me to try again, and at different subjects.

I think it was easier to do panorama shots back when APS was the "new film for the future"... do you all remember that format, where you could choose three different styles: panorama, portrait and normal?

The APS-format films came and disappeared within a handful of years. To the advantage of digital cameras.

Let's continue building this thread with some of our best panorama shots, and by that, I promise do try do more of them as well.

                Re: Photo assignment: Panorama

Panoramas can be quite impressive indeed.
To be able to see all the details I often want to keep the same height on panorama images as on normal images. This often makes the pictures veeery wide!

With modern software it is not hard to make panoramas. And you can shoot panoramas on all kinds of motifs. Actually I have done some interiours and also sail racing.

This one isn't a huge panorama, but still 4 photos brought together. Goodrich Castle, high above the River Wye in Herefordshire - very close to the Welsh borders. The reddish tint is real - this is a sandstone area, with rich, red stone and soil.

Isn't it amazing to see how we now are able to produce great panorama shots... remember the time we used scotch-tape?
