Don't think they've ever quite worked out what size they are. Our Miseryguts in particular never lets the fact that he's football sized stop him landing on tiny branches, and then seeming surprised when the twig describes a graceful arc as it deposits him in mid air - often upside down.

More great photos from Gull-master Thijs. Have you got your own private flock of seagulls? They seem to be trained to pose for you.
            Cheers,

            Mark.

That last one is another fine photo of the gull from below,Thijs. And I keep going back to the others, was looking more closely at #429.2 where, apart from the actual interest of the various gulls and their actions, the composition of the photo as a whole is perfect.
You know, with Paul and his wonderful images of aeroplanes and you with your captivating gull pics. we have two expert photographers of that which flies.

                        Re: Photo Assignment : Animals

I have an Olympus TG-2. It's a point and shoot rugged/waterproof camera with too many special photo modes. I think there are 4 underwater modes so I was always switching between them trying to find which was best.

Oh, and that red plastic ring around the lens. I lost it before we got on the boat. The manual says in needs to be removed every time when you come out of the water to rinse out the salt water so I suppose it's not really needed other than sax appeal.

I missed out on your photos when first posted, Dane. But they are very impressive. I used to work with someone who had several holidays in Egypt and she loved underwater photgraphy, said the colours were incredible. Looking at your first one, for example, with that small, intensely coloured blue fish, I can well imagine what it must be like to see all that for the first time.

Mark, he's got that knowing look - a bit of a smirk on his face recognising a fellow feeling!

walking over the ''landtong'' ,we almost break our legs over the butterflies, bleu butterflies, little bleu butterflies, many little bleu butterflies.
                              did i mention the butterflies?
