    Re: Photo Assignment : Animals

Thanks for the toad-spotting information Ivy - much appreciated.

Makes a nice change from watching your international fan club indulging in Wherrygirl-baiting!!
    Cheers,

    Mark.

Not photography, but some Irish tourists made some incredible video-footage further out on the coast of Trøndelag:

                  Re: Photo Assignment : Animals

I came across these two beautiful animals during my stay in Lofoten Islands in March 2012 :

An hermin (she came out from under a pile of wood almost at our feet, and was not impressed by us at all). This is really a cute creature!

And well, of course, a sea-eagle. The pictures are a bit fuzzy because I spotted him in front of the car while driving, and I didn't have much time to stop the car (in the middle of the road, very bad) and grab my camera, and the pictures are taken through the windshield! I think he has a fish in his claws, what do you think? It was quite magical to see him so well.

Sarnia, lovely photos of beautiful creatures. The ermine is so well captured against the snow.
Sea eagles have been introduced on the east and west coasts of Scotland with the final "batch" of young birds originating from Norway being released this last summer. The RSPB were hoping to release some sea eagles here in Suffolk, but ran into much opposition from local farmers. Then Natural England withdrew their grant because of the economic situation so I think the project has now been postponed for a while.
But the birds on Scotland's west coast are breeding well and there are hopes for those in the east once they reach full maturity.

Eagles are such wonderful creatures, and on top of my list - together with black puma, tigers and elephants.
