Photo Assignment: Patterns: they are all around us.

Photo Assignment: Patterns: they are all around us.

I wasn't sure where to post this image which I have kept for nearly three months in a folder marked 'for CV magazine', but today is a clean up day so I created a theme called pattern.

Patterns are all around us: eaither created by nature or by man. As we grow and excell at taking picture, our eyes also starts looking for these so-called patterns. They can be nicely portrayed in pictures if done the right way.

The below image was taken back in early October 2008 from my 32nd floor apartment in Bangkok and shows the parking at the roof of Panthip Plaza an early afternoon. The pattern are all the nicely parked cars. To add an extra dimension, or at least try to do so, I made the photo black and white and let a lone red car be the only color in the image.

Your photograph reminds me that I need to learn much more about Photoshop. I am just now figuring out about layers. Next on my list is to understand masks.

This is a great example of (man made) patterns in the nature

        Wonderfully proportioned image!

The scenery looks so familiar but I'm unable to see where it is taken: I got the name at the tip of my tongue, but just can't remember the name of the place...

          Thank you Jan-Olav.
The bridge is the new "Straumsbrua" in Skodje, about 20 km east of Ålesund.
There are 2 old stonebridges as well built in 1921. The picture is captured from one of them.

Thank you very much for the quick reply... I have traveled those bridges in Skodje: I knew there was something familiar. I think, somewhere deep inside an album, I have a picture of the other bridge: a very heavy stone bridge.

Oh yes, that one I remember quite well... but your image is way better than the one I have: mine was taken on a rainy day in ... either early spring or late autumn.

Thanks for jolting my memory a little.

Is the old bridge still open for traffic?

No. It is closed for traffic. It is only open for walking.

Caught this at the right time of day, still on the old film camera.

A poor photo taken years ago, but the pattern intrigued me.
