Re: Photo Assignment: Gallery of sunrises and sunsets

We finally got a day with sunshine in Aalesund yesterday.
At 2225 hrs. the mountains started to take on a bit of orange colour:

Time to go to town to see the sun setting in the NNW.
But at 2250 hrs. a fog bank was building to the North:

2255 hrs. and still no strong colours:

The sun set at 2326 hrs.
By 2330 hrs. there were no real change:

At 10C and a stiff northerly breeze it was time to give up. (Better luck today maybe??)

Re: Photo Assignment: Gallery of sunrises and sunsets

Yesterday's sunset was at 2332 hrs. and a bit "better" than the one above.

At 2330 hrs. the sun has disappeared behind Valderoya:

At this time half the sun would have been below the horizon.

No real change by 2345 hrs.:

      Nor at 2355 hrs.:

But what is that appearing at the edge of the picture?

Ahaa!!, Hurtigruta is arriving from the north:

        But which one???
More on this in the Hurtigruten thread later.

        Midnight on the dot:

Final picture of the night at 0010 hrs.:

We were told to leave from the veranda at Radisson Blue Hotel.

Breda is a pleasant city, isn't it? One I'd like to return to and explore further.

I arrived home yesterday morning, just in time to catch the sunrise:

The temperature was a surprising 29.7C, which is not normal, even in the hot season we have now:

It was also fairly clear, this being the time of the year when "slash and burn" is at it's peak on Sumatra.

This is what it looks like just now:

The PSI is still within moderate range of <100.

Quite comfortable temperature.... as opposed to the 11 degrees here in Trondheim today.

Strange how, in the first photo, the sky above you is still quite blue and the sunset colours are confined to a narrow band on the horizon. And there's something almost abstract about those other three pictures, I think I like the last one best with its portrait format and very level bands from bottom to top.

Yes, a lot of lamp posts etc., but you have used them well.

A few from the Baltic, evening of 5th July - somewhere between Gothenburg and Kiel.

With a bit of plumbing of Stena Scandinavica on view.

The sea is quite calm, isn't it, Mark? It adds such a serene atmosphere to your photos.

Weirdly there was a little bit of a swell when we left Sweden, but it was pretty placid the rest of the way, and that sunset was glorious - especially since we hadn't seen a sunset for a couple of weeks!
