    The Bull and The Turkey

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey. "But I just haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a week, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.
He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bull crap might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

                  from a dutch forum

The current plight of the Costa Concordia reminds me of a comment made by Churchill.

After his retirement he was cruising the Mediterranean on an Italian cruise liner.

Some Italian journalists asked why an ex British Prime Minister should chose an Italian ship.

"There are three things I like about being on an Italian cruise ship" said
                  Churchill.

                  "First their cuisine is unsurpassed."

                  "Second their service is superb."

"And then, in time of emergency, there is none of this nonsense about women and children first".
                  best regards Thijs

                      Things Adults Learn from Kids

                      1. There is no such thing as child-proofing your house.

                      2. A 4 years-old's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

                      3. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh;" it's already too late.

                      4. A six year old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36 year old man says they can only do it in the movies.

                      5. A magnifying glass can start a fire even on an overcast day.

                      6. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq foot house 4 inches deep.

                      7. Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a four year old.

                      8. Play Dough and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.

                      9. VCR's do not eject PB&J sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

                      10. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

                      11. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

                      12. You probably do not want to know what that odor is.

                      13. Always look in the oven before you turn it on.

                      14. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earth worms dizzy.

                      15. Quiet does not necessarily mean don't worry.

                      16. A good sense of humor will get you through most problems in life (unfortunately, mostly in retrospect).

I found this on Stephen Fry's Twitter feed... You Norwegians may already have seen it, but (as someone who can be easily startled myself) I laughed and laughed.
