I am so ashamed of the gun situation in the US. Guns are way too prevalent and easy to acquire. And we have too many guns that are appropriate only for killing on a mass scale.

It's no secret that I have many guns but I strongly feel that things must change. Of all the guns I own I hunt most of the time with a single shot rifle. If I can't humanely take an animal with one shot I should not shoot. So, what purpose does a black rifle with a 30 round clip serve? I own a black rifle for home defense so you can consider me part of the problem but you should visit the US and see what's going on. Every shooting drives up gun sales even more. Obama took office and gun sales skyrocketed. Mass school shooting... gun sales go up. It's insane! The really scary part is that most people do not know how to safely handle or store a gun and most don't think anything about selling their gun to a stranger. It's crazy!

        Well said, pilotdane.
In Australia ownership of guns was restricted almost to zero after a mass shooting in Port Arthur 20 years ago.. If one was desperate to own one (eg for hunting rabbits) a licence is required and it is not cheap... I can't recall how much. But although mass shooting still occurs occasionally, the perpetrators are political rather than psychiatric.

I have some of the toughest permits/license. The point is that there can regulation to safeguard the public without infringing on ones right to own firearms. Yes, there was paperwork, interviews, money and lots of waiting but there is a way to do it legally. Unfortunately this level of control only covers explosives and class 3 firearms (machine guns, silencers...). Crimes committed by these devices are non-existent. Weapons held by people that go through the more stringent approval/permit process do not commit crimes. All of the mass shooting in this country are being done with poorly regulated weapons.

I don't understand why regulating something as dangerous as a firearm is such a political 3rd rail (political suicide). We have more than one mass shooting every day in the US and still our leaders are afraid to do anything about it. They make speeches but do nothing to address the problem. In this country guns are too readily available and too little money is spent on mental health. Put those two together and you get people with mental problems and guns. Not a good situation.

The Donald has managed to insult an entire nation (again): http://www.todayonline.com/world/hol...ways-be-france

If France is no longer France because of terrorist attacks, then America is still America because mass shootings are a near daily occurrence?

Is "Murica" the only place where stores provide electric scooters for their over weight customers? When traveling in other countries I don't recall seeing a single store that provided electric scooters.

      You mean like this Dane?:

While we are at the 'Murica theme, here is another weighty comment:

For those who like to delve into 'mericana, there are thousands of cartoons on the net. Here is but a small sample:

I hast to say that this is not meant as an anti-American comment, just showing the fact that most Americans can laugh of themselves.
Unfortunately there are also some that take this seriously.

Here is less of a laughing matter. Is Trump a Facist??: http://www.vg.no/nyheter/meninger/do...st/a/23762874/

Maybe a more pertinent question; If he should become President of the USA, will he be able to gain the popular support to bypass all the checks and balances and take dictatorial power?

Most will say NO, as to change the Constitution is so difficult that there has hardly been and amendments in the last 200 years.
But is it impossible that an "all powerful" elected President can be set aside the Constitution, the Senate, Congress and Supreme Court all together, given "popular demand", or given an excuse to declare Martial Law?

I am certain that Trump feels above all those annoying checks and balances. He has already attacked a Federal Judge stating he was unable to be unbiased and questioned his family heritage. Heck... is there anyone or anything he has not attacked? In his mind white men are OK and hot eastern European models are OK but everyone else on the planet is evil.

Again, I can't express how embarrassed I am that this ass hat has gotten so far in our political system. The world if focused on extremism in the middle east but I fear it has found a home here in the "conservative" US.

There is only one way to solve this problem; BUILD A WALL and make Trump pay for it: https://gcaptain.com/hundreds-of-ame...canadas-shore/

Now his "position" is changing rapidly. Most politicians wait until they are in office to go back on their promises. He's trying it long before the election.

Even if he looses the election he will not go back to being just a reality show host and bankruptcy artist, unfortunately.

He will be on the scene with his dangerous ideas and with a following in the segment of the (white) American population with low education and even less knowledge of the world, which is a sizable number, thus a force to be reckoned with.

If he wins we can only hope that the checks and balances that is built into the Constitution will be enough to keep him from doing too much harm. With him being able to "appoint" a Supreme Court majority of his liking, that may be wishful thinking.

He is popular everywhere, even in Seattle these art works keeps popping up: http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-...-vintage-shop/

Here is your change to be the proud owner of one of these pieces of art: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-pe...-idUSKCN11629P

Well, maybe not so popular in Mexico, although he was allowed in without having to swim the Rio Grande.
He certainly had no problem getting back across the boarder, since the wall is not there YET.

Clothed, he is scary. Unclothed the mind boggles....and how did he get so far as the Republican nominee? (rhetorical statement)

If you ain't scared yet, BE: http://www.economist.com/news/united...6d37c30b6f1709

The neo-conservatives of the Bush era was scary enough for most, the Alt Right is scaring the sh*t out of those with an ounce common sense.

Imagine a neo-Nazi administration in the world's most militarily powerful nation, with the capability to obliterate the world and no moral scruples.

A major hurricane is barreling towards Cuba and safety measures are taken at Guantanamo:
The US Navy said on Sunday it was preparing to airlift hundreds of non-essential personnel from its Guantanamo Bay base on Cuba as a precaution.

I presume that does not include the prisoners there?

Yea, I don't think the remaining prisoners will leave that island alive anytime soon.

I mentioned to Kelly that I would need to bring a lunch to my long range shooting course Saturday since we would be in the field. The first words out of her mouth were "do you want to take a salad?". How do I respond to that?
