    Re: CHIT-CHAT Zone

For those of us who achieved the 366 photo marathon - how about this? My decorator showed me an article in the Eastern Daily Press about a Norfolk woman who undertook 100 photos a day for 100 days. Yes, 10,000 photos. She did it to raise money for the charity Prostate Cancer UK having lost her father through this cancer earlier this year.
The compulsion of just one a day proved quite a task sometimes, but 100!!!!
She is a professional photographer, but all the same I think that was some achievement.
Some of her 10,000 photos are at http://angelasharpephotography.tumblr.com/

Didn't get around to responding to your last post here Ivy... mind boggling...but having browsed around a bit following your link I have very mixed feelings about even a professional photographer going for this particular numbers game...other of course for her reason for doing so.

Makes me so grateful, personally, to pakarang on two counts... 1: that he encouraged me to do what we did, huge and challenging though it was... but for all of us ultimately setting an aim which proved achievable while not compromising our different personal standards and standpoints. And 2: that through his beloved Teddybear I for the first time in my entire life did good in fundraising for an important charitable cause.

I actually popped in here in this thread just to explain my rather start/stop presence on CVF today...due to TV sport! No, not the O word, but motorsport and the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix. Along with Monza it's a classic circuit I adore but yet again this season have not got to in person.

Places I have got too - a canal in Sweden, a spotter viewpoint in Norway, and a temple in Thailand - remain in the immediate queue!!!!!

Now don't you go letting any cats out of any bags concerning the race, Cecilia, i do not have Sky, so am having to wait for the BBC coverage later this afternoon. So i am avoiding news pages etc this afternoon. It is looking to be yet another stunning and exciting race though, just so much close competition this year.

Enjoy the race, Steve. At least here in the US we are back on Speed Network (June and most of July's races are, for some stupid reason, carried on Fox and tape delayed 4 hours. Like race fans who would get up at noon to watch tape wouldn't get up at 8am to watch it live????) and back watching things live......

I--an Olympic junkie if there ever was one- will get nothing done for the next two weeks. As my "dear" ex once said (voice dripping in sarcasm) "you'd watch c0ckroaches compete if you could get them to stick to a course"..........

            Yep, that's me.....

In the ordinary way I'd agree with you Cecilia, but the cause for which she was doing it more than justifies the achievement. The number 10,000 was chosen because that number of men die from prostate cancer each year.

I so wholeheartedly agree with you Ivy. That is a very big achievment... one a day is hard enough, imagine doing 99 more each and every day.

Even if she is a professional photographer, that is a lot of work!

And the best part of it is, the photographs beyond the link that you shared are stunning. They are merely not just snapshots, but appear to be well-planned photographs that has a ceetain level of pre-planning to them. Tha is also something that really impresses me with this.

Planning on going to see the Northern Lights , either the end of October or december. Possibly flying to a destination, but cant decide where the best place would be to go to for about 4 nights or more I have looked through Google, so many offers hard to decide.

I found a couple of interesting articles on smp.no today.
First about a British Lady who has been visiting Norway and Geiranger for 60 years and still going strong: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/article499663.ece

Than about a Norwegian that has got confirmation that he is part of the Hohenzollern family, as is most of Royalty in Europe: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/alesundogo...icle499359.ece

All in Norwegian of cause, but Google Translate may take care of that.

                      PS> There is a bit more about Gertrude M. Marsh : http://www.gd.no/magasiner/article4662282.ece
                      Here is one: http://openlibrary.org/books/OL37499...Northern_light
                      And her latest book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Saints-Ships.../dp/8251924839

                              Well, Thijs...
Geezy peazy... rhyming silliness...like a roll of the eyes.... or, As Charlie Brown of Peanuts fame used to say "Good Grief!!"

No, I am driving out tomorrow...it takes about 11 hours...but am STAYING for 3 weeks this time.

Baton Rouge is the name of Louisiana's Capital City. The name comes from a large pole painted red that separated two Indian tribe's hunting grounds. As the area was explored by the French, it was names Baton Rouge (red stick).

And nope, as far as I know there is only one Baton Rouge....not only the state capital, but also the home of Louisiana State University.....
I should have known you would know the song, Thijs...but for those of you who don't...Garth Brook's original and live versions aren't on youtube but here is a slideshow of LSU set to the song...it's great!!!

And yes, in Louisiana, the LSU Tigers are #1.

And, Thijs...the girls at :48 seconds are the famous LSU Golden Girls, the LSU Marching Band (The Golden Band from Tiger Land)'s dance line. Thought you would wonder...........
