Planning for the future is taken serious in Singapore, otherwise a small country with no resources doesn't stand a chance in the worldwide competition for talents and markets:

I need to add to my previous post, that I find the energetic and forward thinking planning of large Asian cities quite amazing, interesting and engaging.

They think, plan, and build on a whole another level than how we do things here in for example Norway.

There is so much energy and creativity... both in construction and in capability. The youth appears to have a large saying in how the future is formed, and not left only to those of "higher age".

In large Asian cities like Hong Kong and Singapore, they build some pretty amazing futuristic tall-rises (for example) while we here in Norway have been discussing whether to build a footbridge across a main road at port of Trondheim for several months. We are stopped dead in the tracks by politicians, an opinionated population, and regulatory restrictions.

As those who have been to Singapore know, it is a place for foodies. Everything from simple hawker food to fine dining can be found 24/7.
Indian Fine Dining is a relatively new concept though:

The first operational autonomous bus in regular service will be operating in Singapore next year:

It will be on a short run and within the perimeters of Nanyang Technological University, but it is a sign of what to come.

Singapore politics may be boring, but it is well planned and not based on infighting, insults and lies.
Transition to a new Prime Minister has been a hot button discussion point for a couple of years already and several potential candidates have been identified by the media but not acknowledged by the PM, or by PAP. It is not likely to take place for some years yet, but in Singapore they like to be well prepared for any eventualities:

The old Singapore is getting attention, especially the old "Black & White" houses from colonial days:

A Norwegian who got in trouble in Singapore has been sentenced to 1 year in jail and three strokes of the cane for molesting a drunk/unconscious woman:
                      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapo...ng-drunk-woman
His sentence is one year shorter than the maximum sentence for this offence and three strokes of the cane is also less that the maximum 6 strokes that could have been meted out.
Being 49 years old he is just 1 year short of escaping caning because of age limit (50)

VG has picket up on the case and have an article about it in it's internet version vg.no today:
                      https://www.vg.no/nyheter/utenriks/i...el-i-singapore
(Nice picture of Clark Quay, where Zouk is now situated)

Singapore have strict laws against molest (or outrage of modesty) and they are enforced regardless of race and nationality of the perpetrator.
This was obviously a fairly clear case of taking advantage of a drunk women unable to resist, which qualify as vicious under the law.
He did receive a lesser sentence because he confessed and admitted guilt. Ignorance of the law is not a valid defence in this case.

FYI; Nasi Lemak is Singapore's national dish, consisting of coconut rice and some deep fried items like chicken wings, small whole fish or similar and always served with Indian pickled vegetables, called achar
What about Trumpo Cheeseburger, Rocketman Taco, or Bromance ****tail?

There are more sumit themed food and drinks to be had around town. Here is name and addresses:

(Just to explain to readers - when I met ombugge in Singapore in 2010, the first thing I said ...asked... was how I should refer to him, and the reply sounded like "Boogie").I really appreciate the continued Singapore dimension he brings to the forum.)

Singapore is in the news all over the world today due to the Trump - Kim Summit. Probably worth millions more in advertising benefits than whatever they spend on security etc. (A loss for PR firms)

The FM of Singapore just returned from an official visit to USA and North Korea, with a new and very positive view of NK:

"Where is Singapore?" was among the most used search words on the days of the Trump-Kim summit, specially in the US:

Maybe now more people will know that Singapore is NOT part of Malaysia (any more).
