Wisma Atria hadn't done much externally:

But somebody had found the steps suitable for some sort of performance.

This performer found he could do just as well with any spot on the road:

Then we get to the ION, which is decorated with fixed and flashing lights year around anyway.
I have no idea what those figures in the background depicted:

Too much of a crowed taking picture to get a good look.

Why haven't anybody figured out that X-mas tree need to have a door and be decorated on the inside before??s

One year they even had a tree with a balcony.

Looking at all these flashing lights and fancy decoration can be too much for anybody:

    With permission from her Father.

We have reached the upper end of the "walking street":

But the decorated street goes on for another 1.5 Km. from here. Here a view up the rest of Orchard Road:

Part of Scotts Road has been decorated as well:

Wheelock House has this "coneish" glass structure as a permanent feature.
Why not just give it a green tint, add some lights and viola, you have a x-mas tree:

Time to join the maddening crowd and head back down Orchard Road:

Even the moon wanted to join:

A vain attempt in these NE Monsoon days I'm afraid.

Did I say that Paragon had pulled out all stops?:

It's not often you can stand in the middle of Orchard Road to take pictures:

And live to talk about it.

Shopping is obviously the main draw, but the X-mas decorations in Orchard Road draws visitors from the region and even from afar.
That should be enough of glory lights, even for a Truck driver.

yeahhh i like this festivities so much.
1 thing i mis of driving to Germany (there more, but) is driving there around Christmas time.
there was much more Christmas decoration in the Streets, then in Holland.
you got the Christmas cart feeling while driving through the South German villages and cities.
And there was mostly snow in december, mountains ,decorated houses and Streets.i so miss that, compares to Holland.
flat,green/brown landscape, hardly any decoration on houses and shops.
          best regards Thijs

Yes, Thijs, but what about St. Nicholas Day - yesterday? Doesn't the Netherlands celebrate that any more?

Living in Singapore, I am bit scared to venture towards Orchard Road nearing Christmas, the crowd jam is horrible

Though 90% of the crowd is tourists !!

Hallo, ecureilx, welcome to Captains Voyage. Good to see you posting and I hope you will join in often now. Between you and Ombugge we can all learn a great deal about Singapore and its surroundings.

well, I may have to 'transfer' some of my pictures to Ombugge, as I am at a loss about sorting them

From my place, I can view the Southern Anchorage, spotting mostly AHTS. sure, will start sorting and posting them

Singapore is in the NE Monsoon season with wet and cool conditions:

The last two days the mid-day temperature has been around 27C only.

Another Monsoon view of Singapore, where brave and strong men are forced to carry umbrellas .(the rain at times is not too light to not open an umbrella, nor is it too heavy to take cover .. and that goes on for hours .. )

                And a Nicely named .. what ????? (I mean the ice cream/pan cake place .. )

Well - why get soaked through on your way to work then sit in wet clothes all day?

                  Singapore !

                  Ship - Ocean Grand

Cruise to Nowhere, once the vessel crosses the International Border, the casinos open up .. apparently fully kitted including Singapore ATMs to withdraw money in S$

The Ocean Grand - Cruise to nowhere ship being brought into anchor near the Old Cruise Centre while a guy goes about his fishing .. !

Curiously, it is / was a RO/RO .. been pressed into a different role I believe

Then I saw somebody slowly sneaking in .. Past Labrador park .. (Singapore’s old Cruise Centre is near there .. )

It was SuperStar Virgo, being tailed by a tug !

Aft end of the Asean Cable Ship, in Anchor (from the view point, I couldn’t get a better picture )

Follow me .. Port side turn coming up. .. (all at anchor .. ) The Wellard Livestock Carrier, Ocean Swagman, seems to be a permanent fixture now in the Southern Anchorage .. wonder what she is upto ..

A Norwegian take on Singapore: http://www.vgtv.no/#!/video/106867/b...ra-singapore/3

Predictably, the standard perceptions of Singapore as the "Fine City" and stereotyping prevail. (Sorry the comments are only in Norwegian)

Some changes since my last post with the skyline seen from the anchorage.
