  • A greeting from Torrevieja, Spain

Hello, a warm greeting from Torrevieja, Spain
We have now been here a week and it has been nice and warm compared to what is at home in Norway at this time of the year.

Today we have just taken it easy on the porch and enjoyed the sun.
We will remain here for the next 4 months and returns home to Tromsø in May.

I expect that there may be some pictures from this location...

Some of the view from the veranda and La Manga light house can be seen in the distance.

That's all for now, have a nice evening.

    Wow..., what a great report!

Really warming, as the clouds touch our roof here in Kristiansund, and there's cold rain coming out of them....
Good thing about temperature around +5 C and rain though, is that it keeps the snow miles away.

Really look forward to more pictures from you there, Bengt..., really do!
This can be a warm and comfortable thread as the snowy months of February and March approaches here in Norway.

      Hi Bengt,
that doesn't look to bad. There might even be some ships passing by if you're lucky!
Have a nice time down there!

Such bright colours in these pictures. Looks like your camera has to acclimatisate still for a while. It still has the dark and dusty settings!
Enjoy your time there. Wow! Four month's! That is a lot.

Wow what a surprise Bengt!!!! (apologies if it had been mentioned earlier and I hadn’t remembered!)
I’d just clicked on the thread title without reading who’d started it…and there were your unmistakable style images but relocated! It was actually a strange sensation for a moment or two…I hadn’t realised quite how much I identify you so entirely with Tromsø!

Oh look, you have a bit of shore to walk along there where the fisherman is…I almost expect to see the wreck in the water!!!!…

            Dear Bengt,

Please let me say thank you so very much for that tempting holiday report! Your photography is superb and I love the detail in each image. I came by this thread earlier this morning and caught myself in dreaming of MUCH warmer climates.
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

This is a temperature that is comfortable for us who normally live north of the Arctic circle.

Enjoy your days at 20°C. This is why you from the North must go there in winter. Summer will be uncomfortable hot!

Yes Ralf is right about the temperature!…whereas that delightful cat in #8 probably thinks 20°C is cool, and I’m smiling as I think the fur patterning makes me think of a little warm scarf around the neck!!!!

My imagination is certainly active today! That marvellous tree and sun brings to mind those long c0cktail sticks with a piece of fruit on it, for stirring long drinks!!!

Wonderful images Asimut, which are making us feel really with you in this new environment.

Re: A greeting from Torrevieja, Spain

Thanks for the comments, Ralf and Seagull

We are well familiar with these winter temperature this time of year and the much higher temperature that lie ahead, especially in the middle of March and into a summer warm April.

Torrevieja, I am counting as my second residence when I am away from Tromsø.
Our first overwintering was in 2000-2001 and then we lived for seven months here, so we are familiar with most things around here.

We have been here for all months of the year except July, and August is certainly the warmest I've have experienced down here by 37 degrees in the shade. It was not a particularly pleasant, it was too hot (this was back in 2003)

We people from the north are not used to such high temperatures like this, so for me it is most comfortable when the temperature is around 22-25 degrees in the shade.
But all this of course depends on what one is used to when it comes to high temperatures.

But anyway it's nice to be able to sit on the porch on Jan. 20 with 21 degrees in the shade to enjoy a cold Heineken.

I wish you all nice evening.
                          Best wishes from
