              Dear Thijs,

So nice to see the landscapes of winter from that high point. There is so much history, and so many brick buildings in that area... unusual when compared to Norway, but in your world, all normal.

almost every house here is build from bricks, some big farmer sheds are build from wood.
even the house sheds are made from brick.
i'm wundering why they still build with wood, what is not so strong as from bricks.
wood is much nicer, but needs more maintenance too.
                best regards Thijs

A very good point, Thijs.... the same goes for Norway too, there are very few NEW brick houses. I would say the majority of new houses are made of wood. I like concrete though, because you can make so many nice things and details with it. (Perhaps something I like because of my real estate background from Thailand?).

Oh, this is the second time I have browsed this latest set, but I must go over them again, more slowly. It is so lovely to see them, Thijs. That one at #255.2 took me by surprise with the snow on the parapet wall. It looked, no, I could practically feel its cold softness.

It seems incredible that a river the width of the Maas, a moving body of water, could be so frozen even if only in part.

Oh dear, he's blathering on again.... All these bits of the river Maas, Oude Mass and Nieuwe Maas, get me confused. I hadn't done my geography properly to realise that there was a lock further back. Sorry.

Probably just as well that the tranlsation doesn't know what blathering is!

(It's an east of England expression meaning to make complete sense!) (or something!!)
                              Cheers,

Will explain "blathering" in a PM, Thijs, it's a funny little word and I'll give you other similar ones with the same meaning.
But must have supper, I'm very late because when I closed Firefox it left behind all the separate windows with the Golden Tulip pages. I cleared them, but knew what would happen when I started Firefox up again - it had lost all my tabs. But also it had got rid of my Add-on Bar, my Favourites icon and heaven knows what else. Why it went berserk (mad) like that goodness knows. I've been ages getting it all customised again. GRr-rr-rr.
                                See you later.
