    Re: This is Indonesia

    Art is everywhere on Bali:

Even the tightest of round-about is bound to have a statue.

With some huge statues adorning the major round-abouts:

A bit of "wildlife" in the shopping district just tells you that you are in Indonesia and not in the typical tourist district of Kuta Beach:

Some more "wildlife", this time in a tank at a restaurant in Denpasar:

And even at our veranda at the hotel:

The hotel sits in a ravine and with a lush garden all around the guest bungalows.

One friendly visitor can be seen here:

Monkeys were on the opposite side of the ravine:

They could be heard, but not seen.

A picture taken from the opposite side, looking back to our veranda:

Dinner out of the way, back to Bali, let's continue our tip "down South", to Nusa Dua:

Expats like dramatic settings for their houses.

              Looking down on the "beach":

              And the Surf:

This is where the professional Surfers like to come:

Never mind the touristy south, let's head for the inland and the main volcano on Bali:

The roads to get there is not like the one to Denpasar though:

And the villages are less prosperous than the once down on the plains:

The roads are narrower as well:

                        With some VERY sharp turns:

The vegetation changes as we get to higher altitudes:

But eventually we get to the highest point on the road:

Sorry about the blurry pictures last, but taken from the car when driving on a very bumpy road.

Let's get down to the lake:

And a place to get a spot of lunch:

This looks like a good place:

The main attraction around this lake is a burial ground for the indigenous people, who are different from the Hindu lowland dwellers.

To get there there is any numbers of boats and local guides:

To use the road along the lake shore is NOT recommended:

                              Can you see it???

                                We reach the village:

And a little further, the burial ground:
