No, not Kentucky, Yves. By the way, I should have mentioned it in reply to Ombugge earlier, but you are on the right lines with National Parks.

Maybe we have been looking too far south. Could this be in Alaska??
As a wild guess, in or near Denali National Park??

      Comment

Alaska, yes. At last you have raised your eyes to the northern parts of North America! But Denali, no. (With a name like that it should be in India, methinks.)

Well when you said raise your eye to the northern part, I did just that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bering...ional_Preserve

OK let's continue with National Parks, but where in the world is this one??:

Might this be in Montana, USA?

                No, not in Montana.

Anywhere else in the USA, or North America?

                Australia??

It take an Aussie to recognize the landscape of Oz apparently. Yes it is in Australia, but where??
              Should be easy from here.

Got to be Kakadu NP - a very wet ground through most of it, in the good season. Have never been there.

Just returned to the hunt. This software is strange, I looked at Ombugge's reply above and there was nothing after that. I went Googling on another tab, leaving this one open for comparison, found something and returned here to post it, only to find Nari's Comment.
Yes, I think it is Kakadu, possibly Nourlangie Rock. https://www.google.com/search?q=kaka...LLLMj5irdcM%3A and https://www.google.com/search?q=kaka...awjlKLFv4wM%3A

It is certainly in Kakadu National Park. The picture was taken by our oldest son when he camped out there for about a week about a year ago.
I believe that Ivy is right that we see Nourlangi Rock, although I cannot confirm that 100% at the moment, since he is in Kabul and not easy to contact these days.

We now look forward to Nari posting the next puzzle

Ummm...I do not have a clue about the cloud stuff, so can we suggest Ivy posts the next one? After all, she got the mountain range right (I found the name Nourlangi ) and it certainly looks geologically correct for the photo.

Ivy, it looks like you are called on to post the next one.

I would not have searched Australia for ages had it not been for Nari's suggestion. I settled on Kakadu without having seen her post and thereafter it was not too difficult to find a possible range. But she is the true winner, so come on, Nari, open an account with Flickr or Photobucket or any other freebie, drag a pic. from your HD on to the site, copy the URL and stick it on this thread. You can't get out of it that easily.

Well, Nari has counted herself out for this round, so I'm on the hunt again for the undiscoverable, unsolvable puzzle pic.

We are 52 hrs from Timbaktu, but it doesn't say by what means of transport. Car or Camel??

                    How's your French, Ombugge?
