It seems to be in a left side drive country,no?
    First try South Africa....

Yes, I had one of my normally useless hunches about that area.

Hmmm - doesn't the fact that Ombugge was using the panorama tool mean that we're in the 30% - 40% of the planet that the Bugge family usually visit? Granted that only reduces our area of search to all of Asia plus most of the Pacific Rim though!
        Cheers,

Well, I did say that my hunches are useless, didn't I? Yet I agree with Yves about the left side drive so that gives us several possibilities.

Definitely left hand drive. The buildings suggest SE Asia but that is a lot of countries. I suggest Malaysia -somewhere.

Most countries in S.E. and South Asia drive on the left hand side of the road, the exception being Myanmar and the former French colonies in Indo-China and China itself. Malaysians drive on the left, we are not there this time.

An interesting article about where and why some countries drive on the left and some on the right: http://www.worldstandards.eu/cars/driving-on-the-left/
It also mention that Sweden changed from left to right in 1967, but forgot that the change applied to ambulances, buses and trucks first.
Another interesting thing is why Pakistan never changed; too difficult to teach old camels new rules.

Interesting history on cars and roads - I recall during a trip through Sweden in 2013 that the changeover went amazingly smoothly. I guess they had to drive with a right side wheel? Not easy.
I noticed in Vancouver that pedestrians were expected to walk on a pavement on the right. I was with two Aussies and 2 Canadians and we got into all sorts of bother with the Canadians saying "get it right..!" with a laugh. We are used to walking anywhere we like in any direction. Crazy.

Then,Ombugge,if I understand well,we have to investigate in Asia and forget Africa?

Yes Africa is out, Asia is in...

I'm going to try Vietnam. Any good?

          Later: no, forget that!

What do you suggest, Sydney with the Opera house or Habour Bridge visible?

Sydney plus the Bridge or Opera House is far too easy...more like Rabaul with the volcano visible.
            or the runway in Gibraltar...

Are we deep in the backside of Pattaya (Thailand) on that last image?

No not in Pattaya, backside or otherwise

This doesn't appear to lead anywhere.
Maybe another picture from the same town, but view of a different part will help??:

I'm having big problems identifying this place, but the big yellow building on the right side of the image is an important clue I think.

To narrow down the search a bit... are we in Brunei?

              .....errrr... probably not.... Vietnam?

This was indeed a difficult one.

You are right, it is not Brunei. It is not Vietnam either, so that start to reduce the number of possible S.E.Asian countries quite a bit.

The yellow building could be a clue if you have local knowledge. What you see in the far distance is more of a clue though.

This one has taken too long to solve so I may as well give it away with this view from the same town:

it seems that in the background is the Marina Bay Sands under construction

Not under construction, rather destruction. (I tried to remove the roof garden not to make it too easy, but obviously not well enough)

Yes this is a town on the island of Batam, but which one??
With the view of Singapore skyline in the background it should not be too difficult to determine
