    Re: What place is this?

    Aaah. Someone else is looking.

It is no high bridge, so i don't think that a it crosses a major shipping route.
Maybe the is one alongside in the background? There are lamps on the bridge. Does that mean it is near a town or city?

Very good. River, and near a town. Oh - and yes, quite correct, not a major shipping route.
      Cheers,

          Hi Yves. No, afraid not.

24 hours in so perhaps time for a little clue, think further north.
          Cheers,

Nice try - nice place. You're going in the right direction too.

If it helps at all, I'd be quite surprised if anyone directly recognises this one. I think you're going to have to home in on it geographically - so keep going!

                  Northern Sweden yes.

Near a Norwegian border crossing? I'll probably give it away if I say that it's close to a border crossing, but not a Norwegian one.

OK, that puts as near a boarder crossing with Finland, I assume???

Indeed. Although at this point the river itself isn't the border.

If you were going to Honingswag(you know this town I suppose) maybe you choose to go through Northern Finland(E8).So your bridge could take place on the E45,maybe over Lainio River.

That's the right idea Yves. This particular town isn't on the E45, but that is one of the two normal routes we usually take on the way to see our Finnmarken family.

Don't know if it helps or not, but there aren't many places with hotels in that bit of the world, but this photo is taken in one of the few that does - hence being stopped, not moving!

Is it Pajala? The bridge over the Torneälv and we see just the left end?

Absolutely fantastic Ralf!! Brilliant bit of deduction.

We tend to do 600km to 800km per day on the way north, so that's about right the night before getting to H'våg. Hotell Smedjan in Pajala is a reasonable place to stay with good food - hence the picture - after dinner, late at night, being eaten alive by midges. There is a bit of a gap in hotels at this stage, hence being off the Inlandsvägen by a bit.

Well done to Yves, Øistein and Ombugge - and of course Ivy - for getting in the right basic area.

                              Back to you Ralf.

Thank you all for this perfect work. After the area was defined, it was easy to find, because it is all very neatly arranged there.

Now, since we dicussed about a border, the idea for the next puzzle came to me. What about this place, some clues can be found in the picture:
