This is my rides... last ride. Or it will be soon, something bounced up from the road and smashed into the gearbox of my Renualt Scenic.
As you can see my car is now very poorly indeed, I'm still driving it around as the smashed gearbox casing is near the top... so the oil leakage is managable. Sort of!!
So long as I don't go up steep hills the oil stays in the gearbox, I'm very sad because it's just passed it's MOT for another years driving.
For a new gearbox it would cost £1,000 including labour charges. That's 3x what the car is worth!!
Sad day, I'm missing her already and she hasn't gone to that unspeakable place yet.

Anyway, here is the damage. Uuuulp!

that´s sad indead, just after a years check up.
but why go you to a junkyard, dismantling company.
the have good parts for low prices,so left only the labour price,
        or you´re self handy.
        best regards Thijs

Ah Thijs! I wish that I could fix it with a junkyard 2nd hand gearbox... but it is still £400 for a 2nd hand gearbox. It's more than the car is worth, and there is 101,000 miles (162,543kilometers) on the clock.
I was an apprentic mechanic 30 years ago, but I only did 2 years and the company went into liquidation.
With this Reault Scenic you have to dismantle most of the front end to get the gearbox out, I haven't got the garage facilities or the 8 hours spare to do this.

Ah well!! The junkyard is waiting for my car, I am really unhappy it ends this way.

Here is my car. Its a Vauxhall Corsa, or Opel Corsa in Europe. As you can proberbly tell from the pictures, I have done some moderifications, put in a 2.0 16v Turbo engine and changed almost every component on the car. Its pushing out 330 bhp and 360 lb/ft Torque and does 0 to 60 in just over 3 seconds. I am partial to the odd track session, so you will find a roll cage and harness seat belts.

I like it thijs. I do agree with you, the 6 cylinder was much better, I had that engine in on old MK 3 Astra which I used as a daily driver

Here is one of the first cars I ever bought.... an OPEL TIGRA...

I don't think they are making them any longer either... but it was quick, and a speed devil out of this world.

I used to have one of these. They still make the Tigra but it has changed a bit, its now a 2 seater convertable

I guess Opel in the UK is Vauxhall?
