The idea might be old, but it has also now arrived in the small coastal town of Rørvik: a new advertisement company here has painted their company car:

Oh man, how beautyful that blue/light blue Volga is (last picture from Jan-Olav)....!

Well, during my drivearound today I spotted an old Brøyt excavator. Very common in the 1970's....

That is a good spot. That one is really old, I can vaguely remember having seen those while a was a very young boy more than 30 years ago.

                    You mean the black Cadillac?

Here is an electric car I spotted outside the hospital in Trondheim recently: bet it would be great for summer rides:

YES,Jan-Olav, I AM YOUNGER THAN THE '57 CADDY!!!!!!! (gee, thanks!)
Kindly remove me from your "fossilized" category, will 'ya???????

Now, Sterkoder--there are things that should be pink and things that definitely should NOT be pink. A '57 Caddy should NOT be pink...but I think a nice forest green, or a snazzy Ferrari red, or maybe even a nice cobalt blue--but black is so-----boring.

However, since we are on the subject... A '56 Thunderbird (like the one in American Graffiti)can be painted in ANY pastel color and look right...even pink. How cool would THAT be?? I would drive a pink '56 T-bird in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!

'Vette?? I could see you driving lots of different cars, Captain, but NEVER a 'Vette--especially red.......it's just so.....oh, how to delicately put this....there's just this image---sometimes there are men--mainly American, I guess- of "a certain age" who have money and are trying to make up for a lack of things in "other departments".....

Ok, now I've really crossed the line, haven't I????

My only experience with a Corvette was when I borrowed my fellow student's Corvette Mako Shark II model late 60's to drive along I-95 in Florida.

I didn't feel the lack of anything...., but that said..., I only borrowed the car for a short time

Corvette is not the most "beautiful" car from US makers.
I would much rather go for an old BelAir, Camaro SS, late 60's Skylark or Ford F-100 for that matter.
(And I haven't even mentioned the Mustang and Cadillac models).

But do I see J-O in a red Corvette...?

No comparison what so ever, but if USAF Gen. (Ret) Chuck Yeager can drive a 'vette, why not J-O....

Ok, well, you got me on the Yeager bit...but still...he didn't make the astronaut corps....(see, it's making up for a lack of Something......)

Nope, I still see Jan-Olav in something very classic and elegant....Aston Martin? How about a beautifully restored Alfa Spyder or Fiat? M-B convertible? Lotus?

and any color BUT "arrest-me" red........

Oh, wait--no, I've got it....Porsche 911 Cabriolet......yep, that's the one. Dark Cobalt Blue to go with his eyes.

Don't want to argue with friends or for that matter go OT, but the good old Yeager didn't WANT to be part of the astronaut corps

(Can recommend highly the Yeager biography, a book as thick as a huge brick)

((And have you ever seen the movie "The Right Stuff" where Chuck himself play a bartender out at Pancho Barns Pub...? Fantastic movie, fantastic... )) .
