        Re: trucks

How is the ride in a cab over truck? I suppose the cab and seat suspension soak-up most of the bumps but it can't be the smoothest ride sitting right over the front axle.

          It's very comfortable and smooth.
I can't say anything about these trucks, but I've driven both the Volvo and Scania counterparts, and as you can see on the images here, the lower and upper part of the cab is in fact devided.
As I understand it, the upper part does not suspend off the frame and front axle, but off the lower part of the cab. This makes the ride very smooth. That's my experience.

Thijs: What great photos!!! Especially like the two in post #212...!

            Re: trucks

have you driven truck and tractor Svein?

i mainly drove tractors and a few times a truck.

a truck drives like a bus/coach,like floating on waves,
a tractor is more like a storm.

in a truck you van place a cup of coffie on the dashboard,in a tractor don't even think about it.
it just have to do with the wheelbase.

but you can have a smooth ride with a tractor,no problem.but because you're sitting right above the axle ,you get airlifted when you go to fast over a speedbump.
but as Svein said ,overal you can ride very smooth, airsuspended chair,2 airsuspended rearaxles (on my truck) sadly no airsuspencion on the frontaxle or airsuspention on the cab,but you can order them both.
so trucks are very smooth the ride, but never like an american truck (torpedo/nose) where you sit behind the axle,so more like in a normal car, between the axles.

            you understand it wel Svein.

everything inside the red line is suspended, bumperpart and the laddersteps outside the red line are not and mounted on the chassis.

              I drove trucks, Thijs.

This picture of a Volvo F12 is the actual Volvo I drove for the company Veĝy/Linjegods (now Schenker)

I did not take pictures of the Scania I drove for that company, but it was a Scania truck model 500. This is a picture taken of such a truck, and you can clearly see where the cab (upper part) is devided from the lower part.

A special thread on a truckers forum (norwegian) called Bergli Truckstop for Veĝy Billag/Schenker:
