Darling Bearkins! Here is your very own personal Christmas Card from your Auntie C-gull.

I was so very excited about the Festive Decorations at Central World! Especially as you have obviously been advising on the design this year. Those bears in the trees are a genius idea. Perhaps the bears were actually there to keep a look-out for any special VIP visitors from Norway and Scotland, just to make absolutely sure that they make a point of visiting your special places when in Bangkok!

Everyone else on this forum will have to wait to see photos from my travels. I have to go shopping for things to eat now, because it was too late to get that supermarket you visited when you stayed with me to deliver the shopping in time for Christmas. I will have to take lots of bags and go on the bus because there is no snow here now, and Lille Nisse's sled is nowhere near big enough anyway!

    Love and Hugs xxxxx

Lookchin asked me to send his outmost appreciation for the greeting... he is currently in retirement but have been promised a grand make-over to get rid of his wrinkles and ageing-issues, so that he can return to a life of fame.

Auntie C-Gull said I could make your Birthday Card this year Lookchin!
May I introduce myself? I am an official Singapore Airlines-trained bear who was graciously presented as a gift to Sea-Troll by my colleagues in Business Class to keep him company during the flights and subsequent trip in Myanmar. Auntie C-gull said she had looked for an official bear for D but there was nothing in the catalogue that one could buy. So she was thrilled about me! I have now emigrated to Scotland to live at D's which is ok because as well as various technical bears there is a Lufthansa bear there and they are also in Star Alliance!

Your friends Thai Elephant and Berns the Party-Duck asked me to send you Birthday Greetings. They are sleeping in this morning after excessive partying and celebrations for Thai National Elephant Day yesterday!

hahahahahaha..... I wonder who came up with that name?

I normally think of something else when hearing of a Singa-Bear .... as in Singa beer.

Lookchin however is still in extensive shyness therapy and have no idea when he will eventually be on the road again...

Hi Lookchin! ...this is your Sea-Troll speaking!

It was great just knowing we were so close when I visited your city again, but your Auntie C was so busy chasing a ship that I was in her bag most of the time!

Perhaps that was best because your Auntie C had not packed any of my uniforms (let alone made me a Hansteen one), so I felt really shy about being seen.

But after a couple of days I was so concerned that if I didn't meet Captain and have my photo taken the trip wouldn't count towards my Maritime Experience ...and your Auntie C kept saying what a SPECIAL and UNIQUE vessel SDS Hansteen is! She was also fussing about not being a nuisance and disturbing your dad as he was Captain and on duty all the time.

Perhaps I was a tiny bit naughty when I finally insisted on coming out for a photo, and to tease your Auntie C I made it look as if Captain was holding the ship's funnel as well as his c-gull wings and me!
I think that is much more amusing than those photos tourists try to take of holding the full moon or pushing the tower of Pisa upright!

And there is always a special torch bearer in the Olympic Games too isn’t there?
I also licked Captain's finger to tickle him and make him smile

For sure this must count as what is sometimes referred to on CVF as a "Bonus Photo"

              HAHAHAHAHA.... good story!

Where is my other hand? Almost looks like I'm an one-armed monster!

Captain's beard is however time-authentic to the best times of SDS Hansteen.

From Sea-troll to pakarang - the missing arm explained! ...

Here is an enlargement from another photo showing how you were holding your c-gull-wings drone in your left hand, with your fingers curled round underneath, while you stopped to talk to people on the pier on your way back to the ship.

So when you picked me up with your right hand and held me against the drone to sit on like a kind of ledge, my legs covered your fingers, and your left arm and hand was totally obscured by your right hand! Wasn't I clever!

Actually it even looked as if the drone is attached to the funnel by strings as two of them were exactly in line with darker bits. But what is perhaps less satisfactory is that although a Captain is totally in charge of everything, some might think it looks as if you have strings attached to you too!
Clearly the magnificent marionettes - puppets-with-strings - that I met on my last Asian trip, benefit from having a dark background for their performances! And the same too for a show in which the (human) dancers pretended to be marionettes!

PS Lady C said she liked that Hansteen-period beard, and something about how well it balanced the top swept-up-from-forehead hair style!

Truly time-correct for Hansteen a 150 years ago. LOL
