Digging deep into my folders finding a lot of images which have been buried, and making me dream of the years when I called Phuket my home: here is an image of the lighthouse on the southern tip of this island, the Leam Promthep Lighthouse:

You are having a photo-files sort out and reorganisation ?!!!! SO impressed…. (thinks “role model”…)

I’ve not really recovered from the excesses of year 365 on the photo organisation front… but I AM posting Greenland as you have noticed…AND Trondheim….and then YES I will get back to more Thailand threads .

You are enticing me with this Thailand/lighthouse combination. I haven’t been south of Bangkok yet…(even Cape P!!!!!!!!)….but I want so much to go to Phitsanulok (as well as return to Sukhothai ....)

(Fortunately I don’t think Ralf strays into this CVF section too often… or he will despair about his efforts to motivate me regarding my existing travel arrangements to St.Petersburg etc. )

Thank you so very much Lady C: you know, apart from myself, you and Lady E are the two only one's which normally comes to this section. But I think I have seen Sterkoder here once, and also Ralf.

With a lot of the threads referring to now the "defunct" pages of the old forum, I thought it was important to restore some of the images where the links no longer work, or where the images have disappeared.

Kind of silly of me to start with such a big task at one of the least popular sections (together with the Philippines-section) of the entire forum: but for me, these pages are important, even though the current members base may not be the ones visiting these pages. I hope that in the future, this section would be a lot more lively, but I have been dreaming of that for years already.

                      Re: This is Phuket, Thailand

Over the past 12 years I've lost track of how many times I've been to Phuket. It's a bit sad actually as I don't really like Phuket that much. I do however have some good friends there and visiting them are the purpose of my trips. Since I stopped sun tanning many years ago and get restless after 30 minutes on a beach, bar hopping is normally the activity. And boy are there a lot of bars in Phuket, especially in Patong.

One of the few bars we find ourselves coming back to is a very simple "beer-bar" in Bangla Road, Kangaroo Bar. My previous visit was over Chinese New Year which had them all dressed up in the traditional Chinese red colors. Look smart don't they?

So, for me this is usually how I see Phuket. From a bar stool enjoying the smiling girls and looking at all the people passing by which can be quite entertaining... this kind of place attracts a bit more than your average 1.5 children family.

Oh, but I'm here...., rest assure (or what you say in english)

If I don't comment, it's usually because I have nothing to say, other than giving you the thumbs up for your pictures and way of photographing of course.
I learn more and more about Thailand from the different postings here at CVF, but have yet to experience "the drag" towards the area. Or the need to go there...
The food though is another story, that I do eat often.
I have friends and a colleague who have thai wives, and my colleagues wife is a cook (her sister runs the thai restaurant in this city).
At work here we now ask her to make thai meals when we have something to celebrate, last days before holidays and so on.
She again got a good friend who's a sushi cook, so you might understand that we are properly fed here...

So J-O, I'm here, I'm looking and enjoying.

Yes, I agree with you Haakon... and, Phuket has CHANGED A LOT since I lived there in the end of the 90's.... a LOT.

Reading your post above, I suddenly remembered this article in the local paper here in Norway:

Haakon! those are all great photos as I have come to expect from you, but #11/2…brilliant, absolutely brilliant…says it all with just exactly what you’ve included in the frame. The angle of the people in the background, the motion blur of one foot each which conveys their movement more than any movie…and sets up the whole dynamic of the image of that girl standing, watching.

Ah Sterkoder…yes I have eaten Thai in K’sund…and can remember I had Geng Panaeng and can almost taste it just thinking about it! But for me there is somehow this need to go to Thailand.
Sometimes when a thread has been quiet for a while one is suddenly confronted with one’s old thoughts from way-back, like in #9 here.

This can be quite thought-provoking one year later….Well, I still haven’t quite finished posting Greenland, I am only now poised to post Thailand threads, following the customary CVF preliminaries of hotel views etc. that follow any trip…and some captain or other got me doing a second year of time-consuming daily photos!
                              …but look what I said:
“….but I want so much to go to Phitsanulok (as well as return to Sukhothai ....)”
                              and yes, I DID!
Reminds me of when I saw a stone seagull somewhere on CVF
