The horrific bomb blast in Bangkok today on August 17th 2015

I'm not going to be sharing a lot of news-article links about this, as most will be available from your own favorite news provider online.

I'm not going to blame anyone or come with speculations.

All I want to say, is that it' s terrible shocking news. This is right in the heart of what I consider my own neighborhood of Bangkok. Erawan shrine is in Pathumwan Police District of Bangkok, and that is also where I lived for many years, just a block away. I always passed by this shrine when I lived there... almost every single day. I also spent a lot of time there in the immediate area around the shrine during my recent trips this summer. It's a bit too close to comfort.

I feel an unfathomable sorrow for all the people who in some way or other are affected.

What can we say..... may they all rest in peace.

In my memories, from my very first hours in Thailand some years ago ...now, with profound sadness, in my thoughts and prayers.

Sadly, the world seems to go more and more insane for every day that passes. It makes me wonder if humanity is clever enough to learn something from all its misstakes and evil actions.
      So meaningless.

This is apparently the ultimate "Who's done it". It does not fit any "normal" modus operandi among the various usual suspects when thing blow up in Thailand: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...ingap#cxrecs_s

I must say I'm impressed with the day today.... a lot happened in the investigation.

They offered 30K Baht if the tuk tuk driver who took him to the shrine reported to police: he later did report in.

They found the motorbike taxi driver who drove him to Lumphini Park as the bomb went off.

They have tracked his movements all the way from the shrine to Silom soi 9.... through CCTV cameras.

+++++ ..... with this speed, I hope and pray they soon will have the person.

Thai police claim they have their man: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...t/2084828.html

Hope they are right, not just trying to find "anybody that looks like somebody we think may be the bomber".
The experience with the murders at Koh Tao is not giving much confidence.
